On Monday, 21 September 2026, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) shared an update regarding the Italian national team’s called-up players. Head Coach Roberto Mancini has brought in Aston Villa defender Matteo Ruggeri to take Dimarco’s place.
Following a medical evaluation at the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano on Monday, Inter defender Federico Dimarco has been ruled out of Italy’s upcoming matches after failing to recover from an injury sustained with his club. He didn’t pass a medical fitness assessment after picking up a physical issue during the 2–2 Serie A match against AS Roma. He’ll be departing the training camp shortly.
