The Tuscan Derby in the Serie A Week 25 ended with a draw on Sunday 18 February 2024 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy.  Empoli  got at least one point and the dream to move away from the relegation zone.  This is the fifth consecutive useful result since  Davide Nicola’s arrival on the bench for Empoli, who move two points ahead of third-last place, occupied by Hellas Verona and Sassuolo. However, the difficult period continues for Fiorentina, who fail to overtake Roma at least momentarily, but reach 38 points, seven points away from fourth place

Fiorentina opened the score in the 29th minute. Lucas Beltrán defeated Empoli goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Rolando Mandragora.

Empoli equalized in the 56th minute. M’Baye Niang defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper converting a penalty with a right-footed shot. The penalty was conceded by Davide Faraoni after a foul on Matteo Cancellieri.

✅    Stats before the game: Empoli remained unbeaten in five of the last six Serie A matches against Fiorentina (W3, D2), also winning the first leg 2-0; the Azzurri have never found success in both seasonal matches against the Viola in the competition. This is the sixth time in the entire history of Serie A in which Fiorentina will face Empoli with more than 15 points difference in the standings compared to the Azzurri; however, after winning the first three of these matches, the Viola were defeated in the two most recent ones (10 April 2016 and 15 April 2017). Empoli have won three of their last five home games against Fiorentina in Serie A (1N, 1L) and have kept a clean sheet three times in the partial – in general, there are five home clean sheets for the Azzurri against the Viola in the competition, against no opponent they count more (five also against Atalanta, Bologna, Turin and Udinese). Fiorentina have not found success in three of their last five Serie A matches against opponents in the bottom five positions of the table at the start of the day (1N, 2L): including the two most recent of the series – vs Sassuolo and Udinese – and the defeat in the first leg against Empoli. Only Salernitana (seven) scored fewer points at home than Empoli (nine) in the 2023/24 Serie A; Furthermore, the blue team is the team with the fewest goals scored in domestic matches in the current tournament, just eight.

Lazio collapsed. Bologna with a prestigious victory winning the Serie A Week 25 game on Sunday 18 February 2024 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. Lazio are losing precious points on their quest to climb towards the European zone. The game ended with a score of 1-2. The winner goal was scored by Joshua Zirkzee. Atalanta won the Serie A Week 25 game on Saturday 17 February 2024 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. The victory helped Atalanta to consolidate fourth place with 45 points. Sassuolo, caught by Hellas Verona after the draw against Juventus, is now in third to last place with 20 points.

Atalanta’s positive streak continues with a 3-0 win against Sassuolo. Bergamo takes the lead with Pasalic, at the end of the first half a key moment of the match with Carnesecchi who saves the penalty, kicked twice and missed both times, against Pinamonti. In the second half, Teun Koopmeiners and Bakker sealed the victory.

Juventus failed again and instead of claiming the full 3 points, they just grabbed 1 point. Juventus and Hellas Verona ended with a draw at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Veron, Italy. Heavy point for Verona in terms of survival, Juve on the other hand still slowing down and even risk losing the 2nd position. Juventus are now -9 points below Inter with 63 points. Verona broke the deadlock at the start with Folorunsho’s volley, but before the half-hour Dušan Vlahović made it 1-1 from the spot. In the second half, Verona found the new lead with the winning insertion of Noslin, his first goal in Serie A, but after less than two minutes Rabiot, served by Locatelli, brought the match back to 2-2.

Napoli rushing to climb to the top 6 positions ended the Serie A Week 25 game against Genoa with a draw on Saturday 17 February 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy.  Napoli managed to grab one point after the late equalizer goal in the 90th minute by Cyril Ngonge. Napoli are six points away from fourth place, with the possibility for Atalanta and Bologna, however, to move to +9, in the event of victories against Sassuolo and Lazio respectively. Fifth consecutive useful result away from home, however, for Genoa,they have 30 points, with ten points ahead of the relegation zone, awaiting the Verona match, which will soon be playing against Juventus.

Surprise, surprise. Genoa silenced the Maradona Stadium in the 53rd minute with the leading goal. Morten Frendrup defeated Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret with a left footed shot to the top right corner conceded by Matteo Politano.
