AC Milan slowing down and continue to make mistakes. AC Milan and Atalanta ended the Serie A Week 26 game with a draw on Sunday 25 February 2024 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Milan did not break through Atalanta’s wall. Calabria, Pulisic and Giroud missed the winning shot, Rafael Leao’s goal at the start but was not enough. Atalanta snatched a golden point despite a lackluster performance, thanks to Koopmeiners’ penalty at the end of the first half. Simply put, Milan reached 53 points and although they keep the 3rd position, they let go 2 precious points.   Juventus with 57 points are +4 points above Milan with 53 points.

The Rossoneri are sending the message that they are still on for the Scudetto race. Milan opened the score in the 3rd minute. Forward Rafael Leão defeated Atalanta goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Théo Hernández. Though, it ran out of gas after the goal?

Atalanta equalized in the 42nd minute. Teun Koopmeiners defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan by converting a penalty with a left-footed shot to the center. The penalty was conceded by Olivier Giroud after a foul on Emil Holm in the penalty area.

✅  Stats before the game: Atalanta have won three of the last nine matches against Milan in Serie A (2N, 4P), including the first leg (3-2); During Stefano Pioli’s management, only Inter (four) beat the Rossoneri more times than Dea in the competition. Since the start of matchday 20, no team has won more points (15), scored the same number of goals (17) and conceded fewer goals (two) than Atalanta in Serie A; in particular, in these last five matches, the Dea has scored as many goals as those scored in the 11 previous matches in the championship.

Lecce crumbled!   Inter grabbed this away victory in the Serie A Week 26 on Sunday 25 February 2024 at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy.   Inter are the only team showing consistency this season in all fields.  Inter are in the 1st position and with a game to recover. Lecce are down to the 14th position. Inter reached 66 points and are +9 points over Juventus in the 2nd position. Lecce, after a first half with a good pace, collapses in the second half and remains at 24 points, +4 from the relegation zone.
It ends with a clear victory for Inter 4-0. The Nerazzurri took the lead after a quarter of an hour with Lautaro Martinez, in the second half, in two minutes, Frattesi and the Argentine again closed the game. The fourth goal was scored by De Vrij who rounded off the result with a header shot. And Lecce? Ooops… it seems they forgot to react.

Inter started the party in the 15th minute with a special goal. It is Argentinean forward Lautaro Martínez scored his 100th goal in Serie A. Lautaro defeated Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Kristjan Asllani.

Inter returned in the second half with hunger to win. In the 54th minute, Davide Frattesi scored from very close range with a left footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Alexis Sánchez.

It’s all about the Nerazzurri! Inter with anothger goal in the 56th minute. Guess scored??? Yep, the one and only leading force Lautaro Martínez with a left-footed shot to the center. The assistis by Davide Frattesi.

The final slap for Lecce! In the 67th minute, Stefan de Vrij scored from very close range with a headed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Federico Dimarco with a cross following a corner conceded by Federico Baschirotto. Lecce unable to react but just crumbling.


Stats before the game: Lecce have recorded only one victory in the last 15 matches against Inter in Serie A (3D, 11P), remaining eight times without a goal in the set, including the last two matches, both of which ended 2-0 for the Nerazzurri. Lecce remained unbeaten in three of the last four home games against Inter in Serie A (1W, 2D), even if the defeat came in the last match at Via del Mare, losing 2-1 on the first matchday of last year championship. Inter have won their last two matches in Serie A by scoring four goals, the Nerazzurri have not scored at least four goals in three consecutive matches in the league since January 1972 while they have not done so by matching the victory since the period between September and October 1947 (in that successes against Alessandria, Sampdoria and Juventus). Inter have found the net 19 away games in a row in Serie A (as had already happened between February and December 2021) and in their history they have never scored 20 consecutive away games in the competition.

Napoli under pressure to improve their performance. Cagliari and Napoli ended the Serie A Week 26 game with a draw on Sunday 25 February 2024 at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy. This is the second draw in a row for Cagliari, who now join Hellas Verona and Sassuolo on 20 points. However, the bad period continues for Napoli, which remains in ninth position with only 37 points. Napoli with the last home draw 1-1 with Genoa which cost Walter Mazzarri the bench. This week, the Neapolitans faced Barcelona for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16: Calzona’s debut on the bench saw his team draw 1-1 against the Blaugrana. Cagliari believed in it until the end and found the equalizer with the last ball of the match. A mockery therefore for Napoli and for Calzona, making his championship debut today. A ray of hope?

The goals both arrived in the second half: in the 65th minute Raspadori recovered the ball high on the right, then crossed towards the far post where Osimhen had left his mark well and only had to head it into the net.

Napoli got the opening score in the 65th minute. Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen defeated Cagliari goalkeeper Simone Scuffet from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Giacomo Raspadori.

A suffered mission, but surely accomplished.  Juventus won the Serie A Week 26 game against Frosinone to keep the second position on Sunday 25 February 2024 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.   The hero is Daniele Rugani scoring the winner goal in the 95th minute.  Big celebration for the Juventus people, for a success achieved at the last minute and after a very complicated match. A double from a superb Dušan Vlahović (also an assist). On a negative note, two serious injuries: Rabiot due to a problem with his right foot, McKennie held back by a probable dislocation of his left shoulder. Bianconeri got now 57 points and regain victory after four rounds of the championship.

In the next round, Juventus will be guests of Napoli for the big match scheduled for Sunday 3 March, while Frosinone will meet again with the friendly public of Stirpe for the home match against Lecce.

✅ Stats before the game: After the 1-1 draw in the first ever meeting between Juventus and Frosinone in Serie A on 23 September 2015 (goals from Simone Zaza and Leonardo Blanchard), the Bianconeri won all of the next four matches against the Giallazzurri in the competition, with a aggregate score of 9-1. Sassuolo and Empoli a direct clash to avoid falling down to the relegation zone. Empoli won the Serie A Week 26 game on Saturday 24 February 2024 at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy. No team has obtained fewer points in Serie A than Sassuolo from the beginning of December to today: just five (like Frosinone and Salernitana); however, considering only home matches, the neroverdi have avoided defeat in four of the last six championship matches (W1, D3).

Sassuolo’s negative moment therefore continues as they have not won in the league since January 6th against Fiorentina and, above all, remain tied with Verona on 20 points, now also risking being caught or overtaken by Cagliari. Davide Nicola is managing yet another miracle after taking over during the current season.

Empoli extends their streak of useful results by taking their third victory in the last six championship matches, Sassuolo remains in the tunnel and now risks a lot in terms of survival. The match was decided by Simone Bastoni, perfect in the header that condemned the neroverdi in injury time of a pyrotechnic second half.
