Roma won the Serie A Week 21 on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. The Giallorossi triumphed thanks to goals from Dovbyk, El Shaarawy, and Leali, while Masini managed to equalize temporarily for the visitors. Dybala’s outstanding performance added flair to a convincing display by Ranieri’s Roma, who are inching closer to the European spots.

Roma gained the upper hand in the 25th minute when Artem Dovbyk found the net with a left-footed shot from close range, sending the ball into the bottom left corner. Genoa brought the score to 1-1 in the 35th minute. Patrizio Masini found the back of the net with a right-footed shot from the center of the box after a corner kick given away by Angeliño. A fantastic cross from Miretti set up Masini, who executed a brilliant strike on the fly, leaving Svilar with no chance.

Roma regained the lead in the 60th minute when forward Stephan El Shaarawy found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. Paulo Dybala set him up perfectly, delivering a fantastic pass that allowed El Shaarawy to strike a precise, low curling shot from the edge of the box, leaving Leali with no chance.

Genoa is in turmoil! In the 73rd minute, Nicola Leali accidentally scores an own goal. Roma makes a bold move, with Dybala sprinting to the post and taking a shot at the net. Leali, in a bid to block the goal, ends up putting the ball into his own net.

Stats before the game:

Genoa have won 33 Serie A matches against Roma (D26 L54), only against Lazio (W38) have they done better in the competition; however, the Rossoblu have collected just one win in their last 19 matches against the Giallorossi in the competition (D5 L13).

Como faced a defeat in the Serie A Week 19 match on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, held at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium in Como, Italy. After two draws at home, Milan bounced back to secure a victory in Serie A. This win allows Milan to surpass Bologna, who will be playing against Inter tomorrow, moving them up to seventh in the standings, just five points shy of fourth-placed Lazio, although they have a game in hand. This game marks the first of three rescheduled matches involving the four teams that participated in the Italian Super Cup, which AC Milan claimed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Como took the initiative in the 60th minute when Assane Diao found the back of the net with a left-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. The goal was set up by Maxence Caqueret, who delivered a pass to the former Betis player. Diao then made his way into the area on his left foot and fired a shot towards the near post, which Maignan couldn’t get to in time.

Milan turned the game around and took the lead. In the 76th minute, Rafael Leão found the back of the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. Tammy Abraham provided the assist, sending a vertical pass to Leão, who skillfully slipped the ball under Butez.

Como and Milan return to face each other in Serie A after 21 years and 256 days, that is, since May 3, 2003: victory for the Rossoneri 2-0 at the Meazza, with goals from Filippo Inzaghi and Alessandro Nesta.

Roma faced a disappointing draw against Bologna in their Serie A Week 20 match on Sunday, January 12, 2025, held at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy. This result does little to benefit either team, as Roma remains stagnant in the standings with 24 points, sitting in 10th place, while Bologna climbs to 29 points, holding onto 7th place.

The second half brought all the action after a lackluster first half. The game remained scoreless until the 58th minute when Roma finally found the net, only for Bologna to respond quickly, scoring twice in just four minutes. Both teams were awarded penalties for handballs, and each converted their chances.

The match concluded with a 2-2 draw, featuring goals from Saelemaekers in the 58th minute, Dallinga in the 61st, Ferguson in the 65th, and Dovbyk in the 98th minute. Looking ahead, Roma will take on Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico in their next match, while Bologna is set to face Inter at San Siro under the management of Simone Inzaghi.

Roma gained the upper hand in the 51st minute when Alexis Saelemaekers found the back of the net with a left-footed shot aimed at the center. The goal was set up by Manu Koné, who made a brilliant pass to Saelemaekers on the right side. After a fantastic play by the Giallorossi, the Belgian player moved into the center and aimed for the far post. Unfortunately for Bologna’s goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski, mishandled the rebound, allowing the ball to bounce into the net and put Roma ahead.

Bologna quickly levels the score in the 61st minute! It was a fantastic counterattack, with Dominguez sprinting the length of the pitch while dribbling the ball. He then passed it to Odgaard, who sent it to the far post, where Dallinga was waiting to finish with a right-footed shot!

Bologna turned the game around in the 65th minute when Lewis Ferguson scored a penalty with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The penalty was awarded after Lorenzo Pellegrini fouled Jens Odgaard in the box. The goalkeeper dove to the left, but the ball went to the right.

What an exciting finish! In the 98th minute, a PENALTY FOR ROMA!! After reviewing the play on the monitor, Referee Rosario Abisso awarded the penalty for Lucumì’s handball. Dovbyk stepped up and scored, sending Skorupski the wrong way! Just as he finished, Abisso blew the final whistle.

This is at least six more wins than they have against any other team in the league. Recently, Bologna has triumphed in their last three league matches against Roma, scoring a combined 8-3.

The highly anticipated Derby between Torino and Juventus concluded in a draw. It was a fiercely contested match, with all the action taking place in the first half. The Bianconeri took the lead with a stunning left-footed shot from Yildiz, but the Granata equalized late in the half thanks to a fantastic goal from Vlasic. Genoa secured a narrow victory over Parma at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. The Grifone triumphed 1-0, with Morten Frendrup scoring the decisive goal, aided by a deflection from Del Prato. This single goal was enough for the home side to claim a crucial win in their battle for survival, pushing them further away from the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Parma’s struggles continued as they dropped more points, having previously drawn 0-0 with Torino, which mirrored Genoa’s scoreless match against Lecce.

AC Milan and Cagliari played to a draw at the famous San Siro Stadium.  Fresh off their triumph in the Italian Super Cup, Milan was keen to build on that success and move closer to the Champions League positions. However, they were held to a draw at home by a resilient Cagliari side. The Rossoneri controlled the first half but only managed to break the deadlock early in the second half with a goal from Morata. Cagliari quickly responded with an equalizer from Zortea.  Cagliari now sit on 18 points, while Milan matches Bologna with 28 points.
