Lecce lost the Serie A’s Week 28 on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy. Milan staged an impressive comeback, turning a 0-2 deficit into a thrilling 3-2 victory. Krstović scored twice to bring them back into the game, while Captain America, Christian Pulisic, netted two goals, and Gallo contributed with an own goal. This win not only ends Milan’s three-match losing streak but also boosts them to 44 points. Meanwhile, the Giallorossi stay in 16th place with 25 points.

Lecce struck early, finding the net in the 7th minute thanks to Nikola Krstovic, who fired a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Thórir Helgason provided the assist. The Giallorossi executed a brilliant counterattack, with their number nine taking possession, sprinting through the center, and unleashing a spectacular right-footed shot that nestled just inside the post. Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, had no chance.


What a fantastic day for Nikola Krstovic as he nets two goals! Krstovic found the back of the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Frédéric Guilbert. The Giallorossi executed a flawless transition from the left to the right side of the pitch. Morente delivered a brilliant horizontal assist, and Krstović, positioned at the penalty spot, turned and scored his second goal with his right foot. Milan is really in a tough spot!

AC Milan shortened the distance in the 68th minute thanks to the own goal by Antonino Gallo.

Milan found a glimmer of hope as they equalized in the 73rd minute. Christian Pulisic stepped up to take a penalty, striking it with his right foot into the top left corner. The penalty was awarded after Federico Baschirotto fouled Pulisic. The execution was spot on: powerful and straight down the middle, while Falcone dove to his right. In just five minutes, the Rossoneri scored twice, leveling the match.

What a dramatic finish! AC Milan managed to flip the score and netted the winning goal in the 83rd minute. Christian Pulisic proved to be the game-changer once more, scoring from a short distance with a right-footed shot aimed at the center. The assist came from Rafael Leão, who executed a superb cross. The Rossoneri turned the game around, with Leão once again showcasing his talent by sending a perfect ball into the six-yard box. Pulisic made a great move and scored with his right foot from just a couple of steps away.


Matteo Gabbia marks a milestone with his 100th appearance for AC Milan, celebrating this significant achievement.

Lecce have not scored in four Serie A games and could go five games in a row without scoring in a single top-flight tournament for the first time since February-April 2023. However, Milan have lost by conceding two or more goals in each of their last three league games and only three times in their history have they lost more than one game in a row in the tournament with at least two goals conceded to their opponents (the last being a run of five, between March and April 1974).

Only Monza (-22) have a worse points difference than Milan after their first 27 Serie A games compared to last season: the Rossoneri have in fact earned just 41 points so far in the league, after having reached 56 in their first 27 games of 2023/24, with a negative difference of -15.

Milan is the team for which Ante Rebic has played the most games (100) and scored the most goals (27) in his career in the top five European leagues. Against the Rossoneri he has recorded one win (on 25 April 2016 against Hellas Verona) and one defeat (in the first leg of this season) in two previous Serie A matches, without participating in any goals.

Milan has a strong historical record against Lecce, having lost only 2 out of their last 37 encounters in Serie A, with 22 wins and 13 draws. Lecce has managed just one home victory against Milan in Serie A, which occurred on April 1, 2006, when they won 1-0 under coach Roberto Rizzo. Notably, the Rossoneri have also made history at Lecce’s home by coming back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3 on October 23, 2011, thanks to a hat-trick from Boateng and a goal from Yepes, after Lecce’s first-half goals from Giacomazzi, Oddo, and Grossmüller.

Como and Venezia culminated the Serie A Week 28 match with a draw on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium in Como, Italy.  Venezia has secured their third consecutive draw, following matches against Lazio and Atalanta. This point is significant for Di Francesco’s squad, as they now sit three points ahead of Empoli with a game in hand. Meanwhile, Como is struggling to close the gap on Genoa, who remain three points ahead.

The match between Como and Venezia ended in a 1-1 draw, showcasing plenty of chances, particularly highlighted by the standout performance of MVP Radu. Goalkeepers were the stars of the show at Sinigaglia, with Butez making crucial saves against Duncan in the first half, while Radu kept Como at bay. Ikoné opened the scoring early in the second half and nearly added another, but a late penalty from Gytkjaer, following a foul on Carboni, ensured the teams shared the points.

Como took the lead in the 49th minute when Jonathan Ikoné netted a goal with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Ikoné had just entered the match! The former Fiorentina player displayed his talent by stealing the ball from the opposing team, charging towards the goal, and thanks to an unfortunate bounce off Nicolussi Caviglia, the ball came right back to him, allowing him to execute a diagonal shot from the left.

What a thrilling conclusion! Venezia managed to level the score in the 95th minute. Christian Gytkjær scored the equalizer, making it 1-1 with a penalty kick that he expertly placed in the top right corner with his right foot. The penalty was awarded after Ivan Smolcic committed a foul. Gytkjær’s shot was simply unstoppable for goalkeeper Jean Butez!

Over the past 30 years, starting from 1995, Como and Venezia have clashed 12 times in the league across Serie A, Serie B, and Serie C. The results are evenly matched, with each team securing four victories and four matches ending in a draw. Following their 2-2 tie in the first leg, there’s a chance that Como and Venezia could end up drawing both league encounters this season for the first time in the era of three points for a win. Assane Diao is the youngest player with at least five goals scored since the start of 2025 in the top five European leagues and their respective second divisions: five goals in nine Serie A appearances for Como for the 2005-born player since the start of this calendar year, four of which came in home matches.

Parma and Torino ended the Serie A Week 28 with a draw on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Ennio Tardini Stadium in Parma, Italy.  Parma and Torino each earned a point, allowing Parma to pull two points ahead of Empoli. Meanwhile, Torino couldn’t narrow the gap with Udinese, who sits in tenth place, four points clear of the Granata and still has a game in hand.

After trailing at halftime, Chivu brought Pellegrino into the match, and the Argentine scored his first Serie A goal in the 60th minute. Torino appeared to be struggling but regained the lead with a goal from Adams, assisted by Maripan, in the 72nd minute. However, their happiness was short-lived as Pellegrino equalized with a brilliant header from a corner taken by Hernani in the 82nd minute. In the closing moments, Parma looked stronger than Torino, but neither side created significant chances, resulting in a draw. In the upcoming match, Parma will face Monza, while Torino will take on Empoli at home.

Parma has struggled against Torino lately, failing to secure a win in their last four encounters, which include two draws and two losses. Their last victory over Torino dates back to September 30, 2019, when they triumphed 3-2 at home. Additionally, Parma has not found the back of the net in their last three matches against this rival. Historically, they have only experienced a longer goal drought against Torino once, during their first five meetings from December 1990 to September 1992, where they recorded four draws and one loss.

Torino opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Eljif Elmas found the back of the net with a precise right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The setup came from Cesare Casadei, who made a great run through the middle before delivering the ball to Elmas at the edge of the box. The Macedonian skillfully controlled it with his right foot and placed it perfectly into the opposite corner. This marks his third goal in the last four matches. Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki was unable to stop it.

Parma brought the score to 1-1 in the 60th minute when Mateo Pellegrino found the back of the net with a left-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. Emanuele Valeri set him up with a low cross from the left side, and Pellegrino made no hesitation in finishing it off.

Torino regained the lead in the 72nd minute when Ché Adams found the net with a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner. The goal was set up by Guillermo Maripán, who made a vertical pass to Vlasic, followed by a clever backheel from Maripán, allowing Adams to strike past Suzuki. Torino is back in front!

Parma leveled the match at 2-2 in the 82nd minute. Matteo Pellegrino scored with a brilliant header directed at the high center of the goal. The assist came from Hernani, who sent in a cross following a corner conceded by Ché Adams. Pellegrino’s expertly placed header hit the near post, and Milinkovic-Savic was powerless to stop it, causing the Tardini to burst into cheers!

The upcoming match will mark the 36th encounter between Parma and Torino in Serie A. Parma (15) has secured more than twice as many victories as Torino (7), with 13 matches ending in a draw, creating an interesting balance. Cagliari and Genoa ended the Serie A Week 28 with a draw on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy.  A result that favors Genoa, who now sits at 32 points. Cagliari, on the other hand, has 26 points, tying with Verona and establishing a 4-point gap from the relegation zone. Nicolas Viola scored first for the home team in the first half, but Cornet brought the guests level early in the second half. The game remained tightly contested, with both teams unable to find a winning goal.

Genoa comes to Sardinia in a more secure position, sitting nine points clear of the relegation zone. A win today could be vital for their survival hopes. On the other hand, Cagliari, with only one point from their last three outings, is looking to bounce back and pull away from the relegation danger that looms just three points behind.

Cagliari opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Nicolas Viola found the back of the net with a left-footed strike into the bottom right corner. The setup came from Roberto Piccoli. The Sardinians quickly got back into action, with Piccoli maneuvering the ball in the attacking third before passing it to Viola, who expertly controlled it and finished with a well-placed left-footed shot that caught Leali off guard.

Genoa found the equalizer just after halftime in the 47th minute. Maxwel Cornet scored with a precise left-footed shot aimed at the center of the goal. The setup came from Caleb Ekuban, who cleverly intercepted the ball from Luperto and delivered a well-placed pass into the box. Cornet made a swift move to the far post and calmly slotted it into the net, leaving goalkeeper Elia Caprile with no chance to respond.

Cagliari and Genoa are set to face off for the 50th time in Serie A.  The current record showing 17 wins for Cagliari, 19 for Genoa, and 13 draws. Following their 2-2 draw in the first leg, it’s possible that both matches this season could end in draws. Hence, marking a first since the three-point win system was established. Historically, these teams have only recorded two instances of consecutive draws in Serie A: a series from May 1991 to April 1992 and another in the 1993/94 season.

Cagliari have lost both of their last two league matches.  They have yet to record three defeats in a row in the tournament since the start of 2025. Overall, in the current Serie A, since the start of the new calendar year the Sardinians have earned almost half a point more on average per game (+0.44) than they did in 2024: 1.22 points per game since the start of January, compared to 0.78 in the first 18 matchdays.
