It’s the first game of 2022 for AC Milan winning the Serie A Week 20 game defeating AS Roma on Thursday 6 January 2022 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Milan with the quest to reclaim the first position while AS Roma need to climb to the top 5 positions.  Surely, AC Milan celebrating the New Year delighting the fans with this precious victory claiming all 3 points reaching 45 points being -1 point below Inter with 46 points.

The negative note for AC Milan is that forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic failed to convert a penalty in the 94th minute saved by Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio in the bottom left corner.

✅  Stats before the game.  AC Milan with better stats in Serie A: 77 AC Milan wins, 51 draws and 45 wins for Roma in 173 meetings. Pioli’s side have won their last two league games against Roma: AC Milan haven’t won three in a row against Roma since 1996.  86 matches have been played at the San Siro, with 47 AC Milan wins, 20 draws and 19 Roma victories. The last 18 meetings between the Rossoneri and Giallorossi at San Siro have been evenly matched, with seven wins and four draws.  AC Milan and Roma have already played a Serie A match on Epiphany: in 2004, at Stadio Olimpico, the Rossoneri won 2-1 thanks to a Shevchenko brace.

✅   Stats before the game.  Napoli have won three of the last four league games against Juventus (1P), as many successes as those obtained in the previous 18 matches against the Bianconeri (4D, 11L) – from 2020 onwards, the Neapolitan team is the team that has beaten the team several times. Inter crowning as Winter Champions being the sole leader of the Serie A reaching 46 points.  Inter ending the 2021 with a home victory winning the Serie A Week 19 defeating Torino at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  Inter have won all of their last four Serie A matches against Torino, always scoring at least two goals per game; never in its history, the Lombard team has scored more than one goal for five consecutive matches against the grenade, in the top league.

AC Milan climbed from the 3rd to the 2nd position after defeating Empoli  t the Carlo Castellani Stadium with a 2-4 in favor of the Rossoneri.  AC Milan having 42 points being -4 points below Inter.  The victory is an added boost for Milan getting back the 2nd position with 42 points while Napoli stepped down from the 2nd to the 3rd after losing the game against Spezia at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.  Napoli remain with 39 points.

Salernitana did not show up after the ASL stop due to the Covid positive. The referee, as per regulation, waited 45 minutes and then decreed the end.

Genoa failing to win the Serie A Week 19 against Atalanta ending with a goalless draw at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.  Genoa must start earning points to dream with salvation.  Atalanta looking to climb to the top 3 positions reaching 38 points. Basically, this is a point for Genoa reaching 11 points that moves the standings and brings Spezia closer to fourth from last place. Atalanta loses the opportunity to move to second place.

Juventus with a sprint race to climb towards the top 3 positions win the Serie A Week 19 game against Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.  This is a boost for the morale of the team seeing Juventus reaching 34 points while Cagliari remain penultimate in the standings with 10 points, despite a good performance.
