Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
Monza, 20th position with 15 points and a negative goal difference of -30
Venezia, 19th position with 21 points and a negative goal difference of -20

Venezia won a crucial battle for survival in Serie A’s Week 32 on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Pier Luigi Stadium in Venice, Italy.  Venezia celebrates its first victory of 2025, marking the end of a dry spell since their last win on December 22, 2024. Di Francesco’s squad secures three crucial points, tying with Empoli, who sits just above them in the standings, but with one game in hand.

Meanwhile, Monza remains at the bottom of the table, trailing Venezia by nine points. Despite a strong start from Nesta’s team, Monza struggled to make an impact at Venezia’s home ground, even with several attempts early in the match.

Di Francesco’s side improved as the game progressed, and thanks to some strategic substitutions, they took the lead with Daniel Fila’s first Serie A goal, although he was later sent off for a second yellow card.

Looking ahead, Venezia faces another critical match in their fight for survival, as they take on Empoli on Sunday, January 20, with both teams now level on points. Monza, on the other hand, will be up against Napoli.

Venezia gained the upper hand in the 72nd minute with Daniel Fila netting his first Serie A goal! Fila found the back of the net with a right-footed shot from just a few steps away, sending the ball straight to the center of the goal. The play was set up by Mikael Ellertsson, who initiated the action on the left before delivering a pass into the box, allowing Fila to simply tap it in past Monza’s goalkeeper, Stefano Turati!

Stats before the game

During the 2000s, Venezia went unbeaten in four out of five encounters with Monza, recording three wins and one draw in both Serie A and Serie B. The only defeat for the Lagunari during this time occurred at home, where they lost 0-2 in December 2020 in the cadet tournament, with goals scored by Carlos Augusto and Dany Mota for the biancorossi.

When considering both Serie A and Serie B, Monza has secured only two of their 13 victories against Venezia on the road. Notably, one of these away wins was achieved by the Brianza team in their most recent match against the Venetians on 11 December 2020, also in the cadet tournament, ending in a score of 0-2.

After four wins in a row, Monza have not won any of their next six matches (D3 L3) against newly promoted teams in Serie A: the last time the Brianza team won a full win against these opponents in the competition dates back to 16 March 2024, against Cagliari (1-0 at home), with Raffaele Palladino on the bench.

Monza have lost all of their last eight away league games, conceding at least two goals in each of them (24 in total for an average of exactly three goals per game); the last team to have had a longer streak of consecutive away defeats with at least two goals conceded in the top flight was Crotone between December 2020 and April 2021 (10 in that case).

AC Milan, 9h position with 48 points and a positive goal difference of +10
Udinese, 11th position with 40 points and a negative goal difference of -6

Udinese humiliated losing the Serie A Week 32 match against AC Milan on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy.  AC Milan has achieved a much-needed victory after going three games without a win, bringing their total to 51 points in the league standings. This win is particularly encouraging as they are now just one point behind eighth-placed Fiorentina and four points shy of sixth-placed Lazio, which holds the final qualifying spot for the upcoming European cups.

On the other hand, Udinese suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, remaining in tenth place with 40 points, and they could be overtaken by Genoa if the rossoblù manage to defeat Verona.

Two goals in time for Milan, who after touching the advantage with Reijnders after not even a minute, finds the 1-0 at 42 ‘with the first intention shot from the edge of the Leao area, which sends the ball under the crossing on the Assist of Fofana. Only three minutes pass and the Rossoneri doubles with Pavlovic shoulder deviation on Pulisic corner. In the second half, after the fright for a bad blow in the head suffered by Maignan, then brought to the hospital for a head injury, the 3-0 with Theo Hernandez arrives, who receives from Abraham, enters the area and beats Okoye with a great shot on the first pole. Nine minutes from the end there is also time for Reijnders’ goal, which pushes a soft touch of Lea on goal, good at anticipating the exit of the Udinese goalkeeper.

Udinese is eager to secure points after suffering three straight defeats, aiming to climb back up the standings. A victory today would allow Kosta Runjaic’s team to temporarily surpass Torino, who is currently in tenth place and will play against Como on Sunday, while also closing the gap on Milan, who is eight points ahead. In their previous encounter, the bianconeri lost to Paulo Fonseca’s team with a score of 1-0.

AC Milan gained the advantage in the 42nd minute when Portuguese striker Rafael Leão found the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the top left corner. Youssouf Fofana provided the assist after the Rossoneri regained possession in the attacking midfield. Fofana delivered the ball to Leão just outside the box, and the Portuguese player struck it first time, sending it into the upper corner near the far post.

Excitement is soaring for the Rossoneri! Milan scored yet again in the 45th minute, right before the first half concluded. Strahinja Pavlovic struck from a short distance, sending the ball into the upper center of the net. Christian Pulisic provided the assist with a cross following a corner given away by Jaka Bijol. After Pulisic’s corner was played back, he made a shoulder pass to Pavlovic, who took his moment and beat Okoye.

Udinese encountered further difficulties when Milan scored again in the 74th minute. Theo Hernández delivered a stunning left-footed shot into the top left corner, thanks to an assist from Tammy Abraham. Leao made a vertical pass to Abraham, who then laid the ball off for Hernández, enabling him to charge into the area and fire a strong shot past Okoye at the near post.

No further explanation needed! Milan wrapped up the match with a goal in the 81st minute, as Tijjani Reijnders scored with a left-footed shot directed at the high center. Rafael Leão was the one who assisted. Abraham switched the play to the left for Leão, who managed to control it and, with Okoye rushing out, passed it to Reijnders, who simply pushed it into the net.

✅ Stats before the game

Following two back-to-back wins, Udinese has faced defeat in their last two Serie A matches against Milan, with an aggregate score of 2-4. If they lose again, it will mark the first time since January-December 2008 that the Friulians have suffered three consecutive losses to the Rossoneri, during which Pasquale Marino was coaching Udinese and Carlo Ancelotti was at the helm for Milan.

Milan will be the fourth team against which Udinese has played at least 100 Serie A matches, currently sitting at 99. They have already reached this milestone with Juventus (101), Roma (102), and Inter (104). Additionally, the Rossoneri is the team with which Udinese has drawn the most matches in the league, totaling 36 draws (19 wins, 44 draws).  The last draw occurring in February 2022, ending in a 1-1 tie, featuring goals from Rafael Leão for Milan and Destiny Udogie for Udinese.

✅   What’s happening in Round 31?

The race for the Scudetto seems to be slowing down a bit. However, it’s clear that the competition has shifted from three teams to just two.

Inter holds the top spot with 68 points, while Napoli reached 65 points after the 1-1 draw against Bologna at the Dall’Ara Stadium. In a thrilling encounter at the Tardini Stadium, Parma pulled off an impressive comeback to draw with Inter. After being down 2-0 in the first half due to goals from Darmian and Marcus Thuram, Parma turned the tide in the second half. Bernabè scored in the 60th minute to cut the deficit, and Ondrejka equalized with a deflected shot in the 69th minute. The final score was Parma 2 – 2 Inter.

Tough home defeat.  Atalanta failed to solidify their hold on third place.   Lazio reach 55 points being -3 points below Atalanta.  Lazio is eager to leapfrog Roma and secure a spot in the European zone.

The direct clash between Roma and Juventus concluded with a 1-1draw. Juventus, now at 56 points, retains a three-point lead over Roma, who have 53. Additionally, Juve is closing in on Atalanta, currently at 58 points. The Bianconeri took the lead in the first half thanks to a volley from Locatelli, but shortly after the second half began, Shomorudov, the new signing, equalized from a corner kick. The second half was marked by a lack of excitement, as both teams held their ground until the final whistle.

Milan’s inability to secure a win at home is truly disappointing. Both teams leave with a point, which feels like a setback for Milan’s hopes of advancing in the Champions League, now sitting at 48 points. Meanwhile, Fiorentina, with 52 points, temporarily closes the gap on Lazio.

Genoa has moved up to a 15-point cushion above the relegation zone, bringing them closer to their goal of survival after a rough start to the season. Meanwhile, Udinese remains stagnant at 40 points and hasn’t secured a win since March 1st.  Genoa’s win was well-earned, as they were the more aggressive team throughout the match. However, there were tense moments at the end, including a disallowed goal by Rui Modesto and Pafundi’s protests over a potential foul in the box. After their loss to Juventus, Genoa is back on track, while Udinese faces their third consecutive defeat.

Hellas has successfully maintained a 7-point cushion above the relegation zone, bringing their total to 31 points and holding steady in 14th place. Torino has now joined Udinese in a tie for 10th place, both teams sitting on 40 points. In their upcoming match, Torino will travel to Como, where they will be hosted by Cesc Fabregas’ team. The game between Torino and Verona concluded with a 1-1 draw.

Italian Serie A

Como climbs to 33 points, pulling ahead of third-from-bottom Empoli by ten points, and secures crucial points in their fight for survival. Monza, however, remains at the bottom of the table, trailing ten points behind safety. This marks the second consecutive loss for Nesta’s squad, who have managed to collect just one point from their last six matches.

The game at the “Castellani” between Empoli and Cagliari concluded without any goals. It was a match that lacked excitement, with both teams seemingly more concerned about avoiding defeat. This was a missed chance for the Azzurri, who have not celebrated a victory since December, and they remain two points behind Lecce. On the other hand, the Rossoblù secured a valuable point, keeping a six-point lead over Empoli.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AS Roma, 7th position with 52 points and a positive goal difference of +15
Juventus, 5th position with 54 points and a positive goal difference of +18

A thrilling matchup between Roma and Juventus in the Serie A Week 31 on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. Each team walked away with a point from their direct matchup.

Both teams have ended their last two league encounters in draws, marking a notable trend; the last time they experienced such a streak in Serie A was between December 1983 and March 1985, when they had four consecutive draws.

Their most recent clash ended in a 0-0 stalemate on September 1. If they draw again, it would be the first time since the 2000/01 season that both matches between them in a single season ended in draws. Juventus has been dominant in their recent encounters with Roma, remaining unbeaten in eight of their last nine league matches against them (with four wins and four draws).

The only victory for the Giallorossi during this stretch came on March 5, 2023, when they won 1-0 at the Olimpico, thanks to a goal from Gianluca Mancini.

The game …

Juventus gained the upper hand in the 40th minute when Manuel Locatelli found the back of the net with a stunning left-footed shot into the bottom left corner. After a cross from the right by Kalulu, Celik attempted to clear it with a header, but Locatelli was perfectly positioned at the edge of the box. He struck the ball brilliantly on the fly, sending it past goalkeeper Mile Svilar! The Olimpico fell silent as Juve celebrated their lead!

Roma leveled the score in the 49th minute when Eldor Shomurodov found the net with a left-footed shot into the top right corner, capitalizing on a corner given away by Pierre Kalulu. N’Dicka made a perfect run on Soulè’s corner, and although goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio managed to dive and save, he was powerless to stop Shomurodov’s follow-up tap-in!

✅    Stats before the game:

Roma has managed to remain unbeaten in eight out of their last ten home matches against Juventus in Serie A, securing four wins and four draws. They have scored in nine of those encounters at the Olimpico, totaling 16 goals during this stretch.

This upcoming match between Juventus and Roma marks the first time since the 21st matchday of the 2021/22 Serie A season that they meet with a maximum three-point difference in the standings during the second half of the season.

Buy Serie A tickets

In their previous encounter on January 9, 2022, Juventus started with a three-point lead and staged a comeback to win 4-3 at the Olimpico after trailing 1-3, which was the last instance where they won a league match after being two goals down.

Roma is currently on a seven-match winning streak in the league. Historically, they have only achieved eight or more consecutive victories in Serie A on four occasions since the 2005/06 season, with the most recent streak occurring between January and March 2016, when they won eight games under coach Luciano Spalletti.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Atalanta, 3rd position with 58 points and a positive goal difference of +34
Lazio, 8th position with 52 points and a positive goal difference of +9

Atalanta lost against Lazio in Serie A Week 31 this Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. With three crucial points on the line, Atalanta failed to solidify their hold on third plac.   Lazio  reach 55 points being -3 points below Atalanta.  Lazio is eager to leapfrog Roma and secure a spot in the European zone.

The match was challenging, but the second half sparked some action with Isaksen’s goal, which left Atalanta unable to counter. Lazio’s away win significantly boosts their chances for Bologna’s fourth spot, but Atalanta must now be wary of those trailing them, having suffered their third loss and with competitors getting closer.

In their history, Atalanta and Lazio have clashed 113 times in the league. Out of these encounters, Atalanta has emerged victorious 38 times, Lazio has claimed 32 wins, and there have been 43 matches that ended in a draw.

Lazio gained the advantage in the 54th minute when Gustav Isaksen found the back of the net with a left-footed shot aimed at the center. The goal was set up by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who delivered a precise header after winning a physical battle against Hien. Isaksen, now facing Carnesecchi one-on-one, made no mistake.

✅  Stats before the game.

Atalanta has secured 38 victories out of 113 encounters (D43, L32) against Lazio in Serie A. This marks the highest number of wins the Goddess has achieved against any team in their top-flight history, tied with Bologna, which also has 38.

The last nine Serie A matches between Atalanta and Lazio have shown a strong balance, with each team claiming three wins and three matches ending in draws. Additionally, following the 1-1 tie in their first meeting on December 28, there’s a possibility that both teams could end their Serie A fixtures this season in a draw for the first time since the 2021/22 season.

In the past 11 home games between Atalanta and Lazio in Serie A, a total of 41 goals have been netted, averaging 3.7 goals per match—21 scored by Atalanta and 20 by Lazio.

Atalanta has faced defeat in their last two league matches without scoring a goal. Under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, the team has only experienced three consecutive losses in Serie A on two occasions: once in November 2022 and again in April 2022.

The last time the team, known as the Goddess, went through a stretch of at least three straight losses without scoring in the top division was from September to October 2014, when Stefano Colantuono was the coach, resulting in four losses.
