Mission accomplished for Napoli winning the Serie A’s Week 33 on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. Both Inter and Napoli are in a tight race for the Scudetto, currently sitting at 71 points each.

Napoli faced a challenging match but ultimately secured a crucial victory, thanks to the reliable Scott McTominay. In the first half, Monza created several problems for Napoli, particularly with Castrovilli coming close to scoring the opening goal. The game shifted when Raspadori came on. Politano made a great run, and although Turati managed to save, he later assisted McTominay, who scored his ninth goal of the season with a header. Monza remains in a tough spot, fighting to avoid relegation to Serie B.

The game…

The first half ends with Monza and Napoli locked in a 0-0 draw. Napoli’s first half was quite unexpected; they created three goal-scoring chances in just three minutes, starting with McTominay and then Rrahmani. However, Monza surprised them by coming close to scoring on several occasions. Castrovilli had a chance to give Monza the lead after getting around Rafa Marin in the box but missed the opportunity. At the end of the half, Dany Mota also failed to connect with a vital deflection from Kyriakopoulos.

Napoli gained the advantage in the 72nd minute when Scott McTominay found the net with a powerful header aimed at the top center of the goal. Giacomo Raspadori provided the assist. McTominay has finally broken the stalemate! Raspadori delivered a perfect pass for the Scottish midfielder, who managed to head it in just before goalkeeper Stefano Turati could reach it!

✅  Stats before the game:

Napoli has netted at least two goals in three Serie A matches against Monza, totaling 10 goals, while they were unable to score in the other two encounters. Only Atalanta (five times) and Inter (four times) have managed to score at least two goals more frequently against the Brianza side in the league.

Monza has also scored two goals in both of their home matches against Napoli in Serie A, achieving one win and one draw. The Neapolitan side could become the first team to allow at least two goals in three different away matches against Monza in the top division.

Since their inaugural home match in Serie A on August 13, 2022, Monza has faced 24 home defeats (with 14 wins and 16 draws). During this time, only Hellas Verona (26 losses) has experienced more home defeats in the league, with Empoli also suffering 24 home losses.
