Hellas Verona won the Serie A Week 31 game defeating Genoa on Monday 4 April 2022 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy.  Genoa’s dream with salvation is just becoming a nightmare remaining in the 19th position.   Verona climbed to the 9th position reaching 45 points bypassing Sassuolo. For Blessin comes to the first defeat on the Genoa bench.

In the next round of the championship, Verona will visit Inter while the Ligurian will host Lazio.  Following the defeat in their first Serie A home match against Genoa (1-3 in 1958), Verona have only lost one of their last 13 home matches against the Grifone in the competition (0-1 on 4th December 2017 under Pecchia): six wins for Hellas and six draws.

Hellas Verona President Maurizio Setti recognized Daniel Bessa for his 100th presence with Verona before the game.

Hellas Verona opened the score in the 6th minute. Giovanni Simeone defeated Genoa goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. Arguably, it is an own goal by Vasquez.

✅   Stats before the game. Verona and Genoa have drawn each of their last three Serie A games (they have never drawn four games in a row in the Italian top-flight). Indeed, Verona have only won one of their last 11 league matches (D5 L5) against Genoa in the competition (2-1 on 12th January 2020).  Verona got two draws and one defeat in their last 3 league matches and they have yet to go winless in four Serie A games in a row under Coach Igor Tudor.  Since Alexander Blessin became Genoa manager (19th January 2022), the Rossoblù have kept six clean sheets in eight Serie A matches; in this period, only Real Sociedad (seven in nine games) have done better in the big five European Leagues. In fact, considering this same period, no team has conceded fewer shots on target than the Grifone in Serie A (22, level with Milan).  Under Igor Tudor (14th September 2021 onwards), Verona have the second-best attack in Serie A (52 goals scored, only fewer than Inter, 53). Indeed, since Alexander Blessin joined Genoa (19th January 2022), Genoa have the best defense in Serie A (only two goals conceded).

Inter win the Derby d’Italia defeating Juventus in the Serie A Week 31 game on Sunday 3 April 2022 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.  This is a very important victory for Inter because they reached 63 points remaining alive in the race for the Scudetto with AC Milan and Napoli.  A total blow for Juventus losing the home game and practically out of the Scudetto race too.

In the first half, Juventus dominated by hitting a crossbar with Giorgio Chiellini, then in the final minutes of the first fraction the penalty scored by Calhanoglu gave Inter the lead. In the second half, Juventus tried to be dangerous, but Inter closes and defends itself very well looking for restarts.

Juventus have the longest current unbeaten run in Serie A (16 games, W11 D5). Since November 30th, Juventus are one of only two sides in the big-5 European Leagues that have gone unbeaten (also Sevilla – 15 games).

Italian football stands for peace. Before the game, Ukrainian artist Kateryna Pavelenko, who is the lead singer of the band Go_A, team up with Gaia in a rendition of the song ‘Imagine’. Their performance took place on the pitch in front of the players and fans.

Ivan Perisic become the third Croatian player to reach 200 Serie A appearances in the three points for a win era, after Marcelo Brozovic (224) and Milan Badelj (210) – he has faced Juventus 10 times in the competition, winning only one meeting (D4 L5).

Inter opened the score in the 45 +4 minutes before ending the first half. A total chaos at the Allianz. ✅   Stats before the game. After the 1-1 draw in Milan on Week 9, Inter could remain unbeaten in both the seasonal league matches against Juventus for the first time since 2008/09 (1-0 win at the Meazza and 1-1 draw in Turin back then).  Considering all competitions, Inter have won only one of their last 15 away meetings against Juventus (1-3 in Serie A under Stramaccioni on November 3rd, 2012): in the process Juventus have won 10 matches and drawn four.  Inter have gained 11 points in their last nine Serie A games (W2 D5 L2), 10 fewer than Juventus, which are the side to have picked up the most in the process (21).  Inter have drawn each of their last four Serie A away matches (two 0-0s and two 1-1s): they last drew five league away games in a row in December 2004, under Roberto Mancini (six back then).  No side has kept more clean sheets than Juventus in Serie A this season (13, as many as Napoli).    Interestingly, Dusan Vlahovic scored his first Serie A home goal against Inter for Fiorentina on December 15th 2019.

Fiorentina win the Serie A Week 31 game defeating Empoli on Sunday 3 April 2022 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy.  Fiorentina have won now 6 of their last 9 home games against Empoli, although they’ve won just one of the most recent four (D2 L1): 3-1 in December 2018.

Udinese winning convincingly the Serie A Week 31 game crushing Cagliari on Sunday 3 April 2022 at the Dacia Arena in Udine, Italy.  A redemption moment for Udinese who lost their last Serie A home game against Cagliari (0-1 on April 21, 2021.   Udinese with these three points, and two games to recover, can be considered virtually saved, reaching 33 points. Cagliari remains at 25 points with the possibility of a connection by Genoa playing on Monday against Hellas Verona.

Udinese wins a match that began in a very balanced way and unblocked by Cagliari thanks to a soft touch by João Pedro.   Udinese from that moment began to grind the game and goals. Triplet by Beto, Becao and Molina close the result at 5-1.

Cagliari opened the score in the 32nd minute. João Pedro defeated Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri with a left footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Dalbert.
