Sassuolo win the Serie A Week 32 game defeating Atalanta on Sunday 10 April 2022 at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy.   Atalanta scored the honor goal in the agonizing 93rd minute following Ruan’s error with Luis Muriel smacking a goal. Atalanta losing 3 precious points and are now in 8th place with 51 points, albeit with one game less. Sassuolo, on the other hand, surpasses Hellas Verona and climbs to 9th place with 46 points. Next weekend Sassuolo will visit Cagliari, while Atalanta will host Hellas Verona after the Europa League Quarterfinals match against Leipzig.

Sassuolo opened the score in the 24th minute. Hamed Traorè defeated Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello with a left-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Giorgos Kyriakopoulos.

Atalanta scored the honor goal in the 93rd minute. Colombian forward Luis Muriel defeated Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Stats before the game.   Atalanta lost their first two games against Sassuolo in the top-flight (in 2013/14).  Atalanta have remained unbeaten for 15 consecutive Serie A games against Sassuolo  with 10 Wins and 5 Draws.   Sassuolo have not won any of their last seven Serie A meetings against Atalanta.  Sassuolo’s only home win against Atalanta in the top-flight was in the first-ever meeting in Serie A – 2-0 with goals by Zaza and Berardi on 24/11/2013.  Since then, there has been three draws and four Nerazzurri wins.
Atalanta have only won 3 of their last 13 Serie A games (D5 L5) – if they fail to win this match, it would be the first time they have had three or fewer wins in a streak of at least 14 matches in the competition since May 2016 – 22 in that case, with Edoardo Reja in charge.
After the wins against Fiorentina and Spezia, Sassuolo could achieve three home wins in a row in Serie A for the first time since September 2018, in Roberto De Zerbi’s first three games at Mapei Stadium.
