Empoli  failing to win the Serie A Week 3 game defeated by Venezia on Saturday 11 September 2021 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.  Empoli just crumbled after defeating Juventus on Week 2 at the Allianz Stadium reaching 3 points while Juventus remained with just 1 point.  The party time is for Venezia winning their first game this season collecting all 3 points in this away victory.  Thomas Henry scoring the historical goal because it is Venezia’s first goal in Serie A after their promotion from Serie B!!!

Juventus with a major blow defeated by Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.  Surely, it is not the ideal start for Juventus having only 1 point.  Napoli with the ideal start winning their 3 games to have a perfect score of 9 points.

Atalanta succumbing to the pressure failing to win the Serie A Week 3 game defeated  by Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium  Fiorentina win this away game reaching 6 points while Atalanta remain with 4 points.  An unforgettable game for Dusan Vlahovic converting 2 penalties for Fiorentina, so far, Vlahovic has scored 20 goals in Serie A in 2021 calendar year behind Lewandowski (30), Messi (23) and Haaland (22)with more goals in the Top-5 European Leagues.  This defeat is a blow for Atalanta ahead of their Champions League game next week.  Atalanta have won their last three Serie A games against Fiorentina until now; Atalanta have never reached four wins in a row against Fiorentina (three also in 1942).

Inter failing to win the Serie A Week 3 game against Sampdoria ending with a 2-2 draw.  The draw is not a total good news for Inter ahead of their Champions League next week.   Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi’s celebrates his 200th bench in Serie A with this draw (110 victories so far); only Antonio Conte (136) has won more after the same number of games between coaches in the era of three points per victory (since 1994/95).   Sampdoria grabbing this important point reaching 2 points while stopping the fast Inter train.

AC Milan win the Serie A Week 3 game against Lazio at San Siro Stadium.  The victory secures AC Milan the perfect score and a boost for the Champions League next week.  Lazio  not only losing the game, but also losing the first position.  Milan making history winning their first three league games for two seasons in a row for the first time in Serie A. Highlight of the game, the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a goal.

AS Roma win the Serie A Week 3 game defeating Sassuolo at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Congratulations to José Mourinho celebrating his 1000 games with the clubs, considering all competitions (637 wins, 205 draws, 157 lost).  Roma is the first team with which José Mourinho wins five wins in the first five official benches at the helm of a club in his career. The hero is forward Stephan El Shaarawy starting as a substitute to score the winner goal in the 91st minute.  A best way to celebrate Mourinho’s 1,000 game with a victory and the 1st position in Serie A this week.  AS Roma have won six consecutive home games considering all competitions for their first time since December 2017.

Bologna win the Serie A Week 3 game defeating Hellas Veronaon at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium   Verona losing all 3 games and the alarm sounds loud for help.  The victory helped Bologna to climb the Serie A Standing  climbing to the 6th position with 7 points while Verona stepped down to the 19th position in the relegation zone.

Torino celebrating their first victory of the season. Torino win the Serie A Week 3 game against Salernitana on Sunday 12 September 2021 at the Olimpico Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy.  It’s a major blow for Salernitana remaining without points and a sour debut of Frank Ribery coming as a sub in the 67th minute.

  • Stats before the game.  Torino won both matches against Salernitana in Serie A, in the 1947/48 season, with an overall score of 11-2. The Campania team is in fact the one against which the Piedmontese have scored the most on average (5.5) in their history in Serie A. Torino could lose their first three Serie A games of the season for the third time, after 2002/03 and 2020/21. Salernitana could lose the first three Serie A matches of the season for the second time out of three participations: it already happened in 1998/99.  Torino have not won any of the last seven matches against newly promoted teams in Serie A (5N, 2P): only in 2003, the Piedmontese did worse against these opponents in the tournament (12 in that case). Salernitana have only won one away match in Serie A: 4% of their total victories (23) in the top flight; among the teams currently present in the tournament, the Campania formation is the one with the lowest percentage of away wins out of the total. Ivan Juric has not won any of his last 11 Serie A games as a manager (4N, 7P): his last success dates back to last April against Cagliari. La Salernitana is the team that has recorded the lowest possession (23%) and the lowest percentage of successful passes (54%) in these first two Serie A matches.

Torino opening the score in the 45th minute just before ending the first half. It is Antonio Sanabria to defeat Salernitana goalkeeper Belec from very close range with a headed shot to the high center. The assist is by Cristian Ansaldi

Torino increasing the score for the 2-0 in the 65th minute with the headed goal by Bremer.

Franck Ribery making his debut with Salernitana after transferring from Florencce.   Ribery replacing Gyomber in the 67th minute.

Bad news for Salernitna. Torino increasing the score for the 3-0 with the goal by Tommaso Pobega with a left footed shot.

Curtain call for Salernitana with a humiliation. Torino sealing the game for a 4-0 in the 91st minute with the goal by Sasa Lukic.
