Serie A Standing AFTER the game:
Torino, 6th position with 55 points and a positive goal difference of +10.
Parma, 7th position with 54 points and a positive goal difference of +10.

Pos Team P W D L Goals Diff. Points
6 Turin 37 15 11 11 56:46 10 56
7 Parma 36 14 13 10 56:46 10 55

It’s a direct encounter for the Europa League and the draw not really helping much!   Torino reaching now 56 points still having the lead with 1 point advantage over Parma (55).   Torino, for the moment, are in Europa.  However, the final situation will be resolved on Week 38.  Torino will have to defeat Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium to keep the 6th position. Parma (55), AC Milan (54), and Hellas Verona (54) can still make it.  Everything is up to Torino now.

Positive thing is seeing Torino forward Ciro Immobile scoring his 22nd goal this season reaffirming his sole leadership as top scorer in Serie A.  Immobile scoring in the 42nd minute defeating Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante with a right footed shot in the center.

In the 69th minute Referee Damato gives a penalty to Parma.  Penalty conceded by Torino defender Kamil Glik after a foul on midfielder Afriyie Acquah.  Here is the unthinkable.  Parma failing to convert the penalty because the right footed shot by forward Antonio Cassano was saved by Torino goalkeeper Daniele Padelli in the center.  Immediately, Parma finally equalizing in the 71st minute with forward Jonathan Biabiany!

Here is TORINO official starting lineup by coach Giampiero Ventura:

TORINO (3-5-2) Padelli;
Bovo, Glik, Moretti; Maksimovic, Kurtic, Vives, El Kaddouri, Darmian; Cerci,
Immobile.

Serie A RESULTS Week 37, Italian Serie A ROUNDUP 2013 – 2014 for Round 37 on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A ROUNDUP for
the
Serie A Week 37, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May
2014, matchday 37.   Countdown my friends! 1 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!   Juventus winning
the 2013-2014 last week!

AS Roma – 0 – 1 Juventus.   The 2013-2014 Scudetto Champions Juventus reaffirming their dominion in Serie A by defeating AS Roma their main rival at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Making it a painful defeat for the Roman gladiators is that the only goal was scored by the ex forward Pablo Osvaldo in the 94th minute!   Juventus reaching 99 points and will look to celebrate the “100” mark next week in their home stadium.

Highlights for games on Saturday.   Inter 4 – 1 Lazio.  It was the last game, the goodbye from Inter Captain Javier Zanetti at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Saturday 18 May 2014.  Zanetti retiring from active football professional as a player to become a Club director with Inter.  It was en emotional game as Zanetti started as a substitute in the 52nd minute embraced by a standing ovation, even, a fan invading the pitch to salute Zanetti. Inter defeated Lazio and securing their spot in the Europa League next season reaching 60 points.

Hellas Verona 2 – 2 Udinese.  A draw with a failure sense for Hellas Verona failing to win this home game at the Friuli Stadium.  Verona were in the lead and ready to battle for the Europa League, yet, a cold shower in the 91st minute.  Udinese equalizing the game to crash Verona hope….

Sad news for 3 teams, mathematically speaking, Bologna, Catania, and Livorno are relegated to Serie B.  A sweet and sour victory for Catania defeating Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium, but not enough to save themselves.  Bologna 1 – 2 Catania.

Serie A PREVIEW Week 37, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 36 on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for
the
Serie A Week 37, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37.   Countdown my friends! 1 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!   The fact is that we already know who won the Scudetto!  Yep.  Juventus winning the 2013-2014 last week!

Second position now is for AS Roma with 85 points whether they win, draw, or lose.  Ironically, the confrontation now between Roma vs Juventus is at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium and neither of the teams have nothing else to worry about.  Juventus will celebrate the Scudetto while Roma will be an observer.  Roma lost their chances to catch up Juventus last week after being humiliated by Catania at the Angelo Massimino Stadium with a 4-1.  This is a game for pride.  Roma will look to ruin the party mood of Juventus by defeating them.  Question is whether Juventus will let the Roman gladiators to ruin their Scudetto party.

As for the third position it belongs to Napoli with 85 points whether they win, draw, or lose.  The gap with the fourth position held by Fiorentina with 61 points is of 9 points.

We expect to see the last sprint race towards the Europa League zone.  For the moment, Fiorentina are the ones securing their spot being in the 4th position with 61 points.  We have four more teams battling for a spot in the Europa League with chances to make it depending on a combination of results.  Inter with 57 points will need to win this game against Lazio at the Meazza Stadium. Lazio with 53 points also having chances to make it in case of defeating Inter will reach 56 points.  Torino with 55 points facing  Parma is more a direct “Europa battle.”   Torino will make it to 58 points in case of defeating Parma.  Here is the thing.  A draw for Torino – Parma will not help, but risking their qualification.  Following closely is AC Milan also with 54 points.  Milan will play the away game against Atalanta at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia Stadium.  Milan will need to defeat Atalanta and hope for Torino-Parma to draw to jump to the 6th position.  So, simply put,  Fiorentina, Inter, Torino, Parma, AC Milan, and Hellas Verona will be checking their respective results and making “calculations” to see whether they have a chance for the Europa League.

Battle for salvation are also in extremis.   Desperate moments for Catania with 26 points and Livorno with 25 points because if they lose their respective games, it means their goodbye to Serie A and start packing for relegation in Serie B.  Bologna with 29 points will face Catania at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium!  OUCH… here is a true battle for salvation. Bologna will look to win the home game and hope for salvation in Serie A next season.  Sassuolo and Chievo are also in danger of falling in the relegation zone.  An advantage for Sassuolo is they are playing the home game against Genoa.  Motivation high for Sassuolo after defeating Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi last week with a mega 3-4 results!  Chievo Verona playing the away game against Cagliari at the Sant’Elia Stadium.
