Hello my friends and Happy New Year 2014!  Here is the Serie A ROUNDUP for
the
Serie A Week 18, 2013 – 2014 Season on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January 2014, matchday 18.    The first Roundup of 2014.

One thing is certain.  The first position remains the same this week.  Juventus have an 8- point advantage over AS Roma holding the second position with 41 poins.    The duel among two Italian icons: Andrea Pirlo vs Francesco Totti…… and goalkeeper Gigi Buffon is won by Juventus, period.  Juventus taking the lead over Roma in the 17th minute with the goal by midfielder Arturo Vidal.  Juventus giving another gift to the fans in the 48th minute with the goal by Leonardo Bonucci. Roma remaining with 9 players after Referee Rizzoli gives RED CARD to midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the 75th minute and to defender Leandro Castan in the 76th minute.  Juventus crushed Roma to show their dominion in the 77th minute when forward Mirko Vucinic converts a penalty with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.

Chievo Verona – Cagliari ending with a goalless draw.  Not a good result and Chievo fans whistle the team after the game.  Cagliari had the chance to win the match in the 66th minute, but forward Mauricio Pinilla fails to convert the penalty conceded by Chievo defender Bostjan Cesar. Pinilla sends his right footed shot way too high!  Tough situation for Chievo previously losing 2 consecutive games and seeing their ranking in danger to fall in the relegation zone.

The Tuscan Derby a constant battle with the final smile “viola, purple.”  Yep, to the delight of Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle and strong fan Conti watching the game from the tribune. Fiorentina open the score in the 66th minute with defender Gonzalo Rodriguez defeating Livorno goalkeper with a headed shot in the top left corner following a corner conceded by defender Ibrahima Mbaye.

AC Milan – Atalanta, the highlight of the game is seeing “KAKA” scoring his 100th goal with AC Milan.  Kaka leading Milan to defeat Atalanta in San Siro by scoring 2 goals for a final result of 3-0 in San Siro.

Surprise of the round was the return of Inter forward Diego Milito after 3-month injury.  Milito playing the last 15 minutes of the game.  Lazio with a great satisfaction start the 2014 with a victory seeing their star forward Miroslav Klose scoring the only goal of the game.  Great debut of Lazio coach Edy Reja on his second term with Lazio after replacing coach Vladimir Petkovic.

Serie A Week 18, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 18 on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January 2014, matchday 18

Hello my friends and Happy New Year 2014!  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for
the
Serie A Week 18, 2013 – 2014 Season on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January 2014, matchday 18.

It’s the first preview of 2014 and you bet all Serie A teams are ready to start with a positive result.  However, it is Juventus the only team starting with 2014 with a big smile as sole leaders of the Serie A after 9th consecutive wins.

Surely, Inter also with a smile as they ended 2013 as winner of the MILAN DERBY by defeating AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium / San Siro.   It was the first derby della Madonnina for president Eric Thohir who had asked coach Walter Mazzarri to win it, and he did it thanks to the goal by forward Rodrigo Palacio. in the 86th minute.

What to expect in this Round?  Well, let me tell you that status quo in the first position will remain the same whether Juventus win, draw, or lose.  The gap with AS Roma holding the second position is of 5 points.  Juventus 46 points, Roma 41 points…. It seems the Scudetto race is a two-way because the third position is 10 points behind Juventus!  Yep, Napoli in the 3rd position with 36 points.

The big question in this round is to see whether Catania will start the year with a victory.  It’s just U N B E L I E V A B L E as Catania have won only 2 games this season!  Mamma mia!

As for the DERBY… hello, hello, hello.  This round we have the TUSCAN DERBY!!!  Fiorentina vs Livorno at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.  Fans waiting to see Fiorentina forward Giuseppe Rossi scoring.  Rossi is currently top scorer of the Serie A with 14 goals.

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A ROUNDUP for
the
Serie A Week 17, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December 2013, matchday 17.  Serie A will resume on Sunday 5 – Monday 6 January 2014 with Round 18.

It’s the last Serie A round of 2013 and Juventus remaining as sole top leader followed by AS Roma.  Four games this round with 4 goals result!  Juventus defeating Atalanta with a 4-1 crowning themselves as number one.  Roma also with a 4 – 0 defeating Catania and keeping up the race along Juventus for the Scudetto.  Juventus winning their 9th consecutive win.

The Milan Derby and  President Thohir will get his wish granted.  Thohir asked Inter coach Walter Mazzarri to win the Milan Derby as a gift for him.  Inter opening the score in the 86th minute with forward Rodrigo Palacio.

Napoli remaining in third position after the draw against Cagliari at the Sant’Elia Stadium.  It’s the first away draw for Napoli and every time losing more points and overtaking Juventus becoming difficult.

Sad news for Livorno losing at the Armando Picchi Stadium against Udinese.  Livorno not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  Livorno ending 2013 in the relegation zone.   Good news is for Bologna managing to leave the relegation zone after defeating Genoa and now in the 17th position.  Still in relegation zone is Catania winning only 2 games this season.
