Hello my friends and Happy New Year 2014!  Here is the Serie A ROUNDUP for
the
Serie A Week 18, 2013 – 2014 Season on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January 2014, matchday 18.    The first Roundup of 2014.

One thing is certain.  The first position remains the same this week.  Juventus have an 8- point advantage over AS Roma holding the second position with 41 poins.    The duel among two Italian icons: Andrea Pirlo vs Francesco Totti…… and goalkeeper Gigi Buffon is won by Juventus, period.  Juventus taking the lead over Roma in the 17th minute with the goal by midfielder Arturo Vidal.  Juventus giving another gift to the fans in the 48th minute with the goal by Leonardo Bonucci. Roma remaining with 9 players after Referee Rizzoli gives RED CARD to midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the 75th minute and to defender Leandro Castan in the 76th minute.  Juventus crushed Roma to show their dominion in the 77th minute when forward Mirko Vucinic converts a penalty with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.

Chievo Verona – Cagliari ending with a goalless draw.  Not a good result and Chievo fans whistle the team after the game.  Cagliari had the chance to win the match in the 66th minute, but forward Mauricio Pinilla fails to convert the penalty conceded by Chievo defender Bostjan Cesar. Pinilla sends his right footed shot way too high!  Tough situation for Chievo previously losing 2 consecutive games and seeing their ranking in danger to fall in the relegation zone.

The Tuscan Derby a constant battle with the final smile “viola, purple.”  Yep, to the delight of Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle and strong fan Conti watching the game from the tribune. Fiorentina open the score in the 66th minute with defender Gonzalo Rodriguez defeating Livorno goalkeper with a headed shot in the top left corner following a corner conceded by defender Ibrahima Mbaye.

AC Milan – Atalanta, the highlight of the game is seeing “KAKA” scoring his 100th goal with AC Milan.  Kaka leading Milan to defeat Atalanta in San Siro by scoring 2 goals for a final result of 3-0 in San Siro.

Surprise of the round was the return of Inter forward Diego Milito after 3-month injury.  Milito playing the last 15 minutes of the game.  Lazio with a great satisfaction start the 2014 with a victory seeing their star forward Miroslav Klose scoring the only goal of the game.  Great debut of Lazio coach Edy Reja on his second term with Lazio after replacing coach Vladimir Petkovic.
