Atalanta has claimed the top spot! The team is celebrating after securing a remarkable 37 points by defeating Cagliari. This victory marks their tenth straight win in Serie A, setting a new record for Bergamo. With this triumph, Gasperini’s squad solidifies their lead, now five points ahead of Napoli. Cagliari, on the other hand, suffers their second consecutive loss, following their defeat to Fiorentina, leaving them with 14 points—just two points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Napoli currently holds second place with 35 points.
What a stunning defeat! Inter completely dominated Lazio at the Olimpico Stadium with an incredible 6-0 scoreline! Here’s a fun fact: with this victory, Inter has now netted 47 goals away from home in Serie A for 2024, setting a new record for the most away goals in a calendar year in the top division. Both teams entered the match level on points, but now Inter, with one game in hand, leads Lazio by 3 points and is closing in on Napoli (just 1 point ahead) and Atalanta (+3). Meanwhile, Lazio has stumbled after a three-match winning streak across all competitions. After a promising first 30 minutes filled with chances for Lazio, they faltered: Gigot’s substitution for the injured Gila led to a penalty that opened the scoring for the Nerazzurri, who went on to score six goals, each from different players. Lazio will be back in action against Lecce on Saturday at 20:45, while Inter will first take on Udinese in the Coppa Italia on Thursday before facing Como on Monday.

Empoli faced a disappointing setback as Torino triumphed at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. This victory marks Torino’s return to form after a challenging stretch of five games without a win. With this result, Torino temporarily moves ahead of Roma and matches Empoli’s points total at 19 in the league standings. The match between Juventus and Venezia concluded with a 2-2 draw, leaving both teams feeling somewhat unsatisfied. This marks Juventus’s fourth consecutive draw, while Venezia also struggles to turn their solid performance into a win. Juventus now sits at 37 points, while Venezia has 10. The visitors initially leveled the score with Ellertsson after Gatti’s opening goal, then took a 2-1 lead thanks to Idzes, who redirected a well-placed free kick from Nicolussi Caviglia into the net. However, Juventus equalized in stoppage time with a penalty from Dušan Vlahović, awarded for a handball by Candela in the box.
A frustrating outcome. Milan 0 – 0 Genoa. Fonseca’s decision to start the young talents Jimenez, who stood out on the field, and Liberali, with Camarda coming in during the second half, didn’t pay off. Milan missed a chance to close the gap on their European rivals and now sits eight points behind fourth place, which has left their fans feeling discontented at the end of the match. This result casts a shadow over Milan’s 125th-anniversary celebrations. For Genoa, it’s a valuable point that brings them level with Roma and Lecce at 16 points, maintaining a two-point cushion over third-from-bottom Cagliari as they continue their fight for survival. Patrick Vieira’s unbeaten run as coach of the rossoblu has now reached four matches, contributing to six positive results, including Gilardino’s last two games. In the upcoming round, Milan will head to Verona, while Genoa will take on Napoli at Marassi.

Surely, this is a very special victory. It’s been a long time since Inter last triumphed at home against Parma in Serie A. Inter last victory dates back to April 21, 2013. Inter secured a victory in their most recent Serie A match against Parma on March 4, 2021, with Antonio Conte leading from the sidelines. Since the stretch from November 2006 to September 2009, when they managed five consecutive wins, Inter has struggled to claim at least two back-to-back victories against the Emilians in the league.
Inter has managed to keep a clean sheet in four out of their last six league matches, a notable improvement compared to their previous four Serie A games where they failed to do so. Since the weekend of October 19-20, only Napoli, with five clean sheets, has surpassed Inter’s four in this regard.
Additionally, Inter has scored in their last 29 home league matches and is on the verge of achieving a remarkable 30 consecutive home games with goals, a feat they last accomplished between July 2020 and February 2022, when they scored in 32 straight matches.
Parma, on the other hand, has seen some success recently, winning two of their last three league games (with one loss), after struggling to secure just one victory in their previous 11 Serie A matches this season (with six draws and four losses). The Gialloblu have not managed to win two consecutive Serie A games since July 2020, when they triumphed over Napoli and Brescia under coach Roberto D’Aversa.
In their last away match, Parma secured a 2-1 victory against Venezia, breaking a long streak of 19 away games without a win in Serie A (with nine draws and ten losses). They haven’t achieved back-to-back away wins in the league since July-August 2020, when they won against Brescia and Lecce.
Interestingly, while Parma has conceded the fewest goals in the first 30 minutes of play this season (only two), Inter has let in 43% of their goals in the final 15 minutes of matches (six out of 14), which is the highest percentage in the league, tied with Empoli.
Player Stats
Marcus Thuram can become the third player in the history of Serie A to reach double figures for goals in a single season by scoring only multiple goals, after Norberto Höfling in 1949/50 and Harald Nielsen in 1962/63.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored three goals against Parma in Serie A, against no team has he done better in the tournament (three goals also against Genoa and Inter); in particular, in both of his matches against the Gialloblù he has participated in two goals (a brace in November 2020 and a goal plus an assist in July 2020).
Before Enrico Delprato, the last Italian defender for Parma who had scored at least three goals in a single Serie A season was Paolo De Ceglie in 2014/15 (also three); the last to reach four was Alessandro Lucarelli in 2013/14.
