MILAN – Federico Bonazzoli also gave his thoughts to the media after his key introduction as a second half substitute. The Nerazzurri youngster played a key role in the equaliser, delivering the free-kick from which Palacio scored.
“I didn’t even expect to take the free-kick,” said Bonazzoli. “I tried to curl it into the box and we got the goal. The coach always gives me big opportunities. Playing for Inter is a dream come true and it’s up to me to repay the coach’s faith in me. The coach works a lot with the forwards and, if I’ve improved, it’s all down to him. I see myself as a centre forward but I’d even play at fullback if it means being in the Inter side. The club can look to the youth academy.”

Mancini: “We need to be consistent over 90 minutes”
MILAN – The late game in Serie A Week 16 ended in a draw between Inter and Lazio. Both sides had the better of one half each, with the Nerazzurri coming back with two second half goals: “I coach the team on a daily basis and I think the way we set up in the first half is a system that can work,” explained Roberto Mancini post-match. “Conceding a goal after two minutes changes your plans because Lazio are a very good side on the break. The formation doesn’t come into it because the first period changed after we conceded. It gave us a lot of problems. We reacted in the second half but it’s not to do with the system we played.
“We made mistakes, we take two steps forward and one back but I didn’t think I could change things in the space of a month. It takes time and we have to improve in a number of areas. The players do suffer from a touch of fear at the San Siro especially when games take a turn for the worse. We need to overcome that and we will do. We’ll keep making mistakes but we hope to make fewer of them.”
He also addressed transfer rumours: “We’ve never spoken about Lennon. He’s not in our transfers plans, but there will most likely be other players if we can land them. The team needs to keep working regardless of any potential new signings. We have to find the right consistency throughout matches. The only way to do so is through hard work. If we can bring people in, so much the better, but we need to think about improving.”
Finally, a word on Kovacic, the scorer of a wonder goal which woke the Nerazzurri up: “Mateo is improving because he’s a young man with a lot of quality. He comes on every day. I don’t think I deserve credit for that but it’s simply a process a player like him needs to go through.”

Primavera’s cup run halted by Roma
ROME – The Primavera’s cup dreams ended at the quarter-final stage as Roma made home advantage count to secure a 3-1 success in this afternoon’s Coppa Italia quarter-final.
Both sides are currently top of their respective league groups but the Giallorossi drew first blood in this clash of heavyweights when a defensive mix-up by Donkor and Dabo enabled Adamo to score the opener midway through the first period.
The hosts made it 2-0 six minutes later after Ferri played in Vestenicky with a lobbed ball over the top and the Slovak striker finished with aplomb.
Stefano Vecchi went all in with a daring 4-2-4 formation after the break and the Nerazzurri managed to reduce the arrears with 15 minutes left on the clock. Appiah was brought down by Calabresi as he entered the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Camara stepped up and made no mistake from 12 yards.
The goal rallied Inter and they pushed forward looking to complete the comeback. However, their hopes were dashed when another defensive mistake – Yao bringing down Soleri on the edge of the area – allowed Roma to restore the two-goal lead with a penalty of their own and effectively kill off the match.
Alberto De Rossi’s team thus earn the right to do battle with Atalanta for a place in the final, while Stefano Vecchi’s boys will look to bounce back when they resume championship duties against Virtus Lanciano after the Christmas break.
