Inter Clubs celebrate at Lazio match

MILAN – As Inter played Lazio in their last match of 2014 on Sunday, Inter Club members were able to experience a truly special day.

The Nerazzurri superfans enjoyed an unforgettable few hours. There were photos down at pitchside, awards for the five Inter Clubs who’ve marked their 50th birthdays this year and a Christmas toast from CEO Michael Bolingbroke, who was keen to share with them his vision for the future of the club.

Mrs Bedy Moratti was there to usher in the festive season with her customary grace, whilst Inter Forever also took part in the celebration, represented by Dino Baggio, Giuseppe Bergomi, Nicola Berti, Benito Carbone and Mario Corso.

Happy birthday, Giuseppe Bergomi!

MILAN – Twenty seasons in the Nerazzurri jersey, 756 appearances for the club (second only to Javier Zanetti in the all time appearances stakes) and 28 goals. Giuseppe Bergomi was a one-club man, and to good fortune of us all, that club was Inter.

After making his first-team debut at the age of just 16 on 30 January 1980 (Juventus 0-0 Inter, Coppa Italia), Bergomi went on to carve out an illustrious Nerazzurri career which finally came to an end on 23 May 1999 in a 3-1 win over Bologna in Serie A.

Lo Zio, as he was known to the adoring fans, won one Scudetto (1988/89), three UEFA Cups (1990/91, 1993/94, 1997/98), one Italian Supercup (1989) and one Coppa Italia (1981/82). His greatest achievement, aside from the league title won under Giovanni Trapattoni, was the World Cup triumph in 1982.

On the day of his 51st birthday, let us play tribute to a true Inter legend. Happy birthday, Beppe!

D’Ambrosio: “Lots of matches to climb the table”

MILAN – Danilo D’Ambrosio also stopped for a chat with Inter Channel post-match. “Given the way the game went, a draw is the fair result. Obviously as a player you want the coach to believe in you. Lazio moved the ball well and were good on the break. But we put in a great second half performance and showed character to come back. We still have a lot of matches to play and there’s plenty of time to move back up the table. We’ll keep going.”

Juan Jesus: “The coach woke us up”

MILAN – “We approached the game in the wrong way in the first half but we turned things around after the break, and a lot of that was down to what the coach said to us at the interval. We need our second half approach for the full 90 minutes in matches and consistently do the right things.” This was how Juan Jesus analysed Inter 2-2 Lazio in Week 16 of Serie A. “We trained really well during the week and the coach was happy,” continued the defender to Inter Channel. “We still have to improve and cut out our mistakes. Now we’ll focus on recharging our batteries and look towards Juventus.”
