MILAN – It is well-known in the football world that Cristian Brocchi, Christian Abbiati and Rino Gattuso are very good friends. On Saturday night the Rossoneri coached by Brocchi take on Bologna at the Dall’Ara stadium, just where Christian Abbiati played and won 3-2 his first Serie A game played from the beginning with Milan in 1999. One year later, in 2000, Milan won again 3-2, this time thanks to Rino Gattuso’s first Serie A strike with the club.

On January 24th 1999, Cristian Abbiati made his full debut for Milan in Serie A. After 60 minutes of play the rossoneri were down 2-1 at the Dall’Ara stadium but then Magoni scored an own goal and N’Gotty scored the only decisive goal of his Milan career in the last minute, giving the rossoneri all three points.
On February 12th, 2000, Milan were cruising in the first hour of play thanks to three goals scored by Gattuso (his first ever goal for Milan), Shevchenko and Bierhoff. But it was far from over because Bologna came back and scored two goals with Ingesson and Eriberto. It finished 2-3 with Boban very critical of his own defence.
On October 15th, 2000, Roque Junior made his debut for Milan. However Bologna ran out winners by 2-1 thanks to a last minute goal from Piacentini.
On March 10th, 2002, Milan lost 2-0 in Bologna and the rossoneri fans were very unhappy. However, the team went on to win their next three games and managed to qualify for the preliminary round of the Champions League.
In the seasons 2002/03, 2003/04 and 2004/05 Milan won all three games away to Bologna by the same result; 2-0.
On September 1st 2012, Pazzini made his full debut for Milan and scored a hat-trick at the Dall’Ara.
On September 25th, 2013, the last time Milan played at the Dall’Ara, the Rossoneri were losing 3-1 but managed to claw back two goals to claim a draw (just like they did last weekend against Frosinone).

Speaking ahead of his trip from Milan to Rome aboard the Frecciarossa 1000 train and before handing over the prestigious trophy, this is what the former midfield battler, who is now coach of Pisa, had to say: “Winning breeds confidence and winning a trophy is always important. The first people to be worried about the current situation and suffering right now are the joint-CEO Galliani and the President Berlusconi. They are certainly far from happy. If the two Milan clubs can get back to being competitive, then Italian football can start making the difference again in Europe. The responsibility lies with the players, but it’s normal that the club is also to blame because it is the club who picks the players. I’ve heard it said that they are not up to the Milan standard, but the lads have their own history and career. The 30 years of Berlusconi Presidency have been unforgettable. I spent 14 years at Milan and I was very happy at the club. Milan was the perfect machine. Testing moments can happen, but you can’t forget the 25 years of success. This is a time in which the identity has to be reinstalled, the club has its responsibility, but so do the players. I am proud to have won this trophy because in 30 years of Berlusconi’s presidency we only won it once, in 2003. It was incredible to wear the Milan jersey. I have always been a fan and it was special. I would have been a footballer even for a tenth of the money I earned.”
