Hellas Verona, 14th position with 26 points and a negative goal difference of -29

Hellas Verona lost the Serie A Week 28 match on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy.  It’s an important victory, Bologna made significant strides in their quest for European qualification with three key takeaways from the match. Bologna now sits at 50 points, while Verona remains at 26.   Bologna, under Vincenzo Italiano, is enjoying a strong season securing their third consecutive win at the Bentegodi, having only lost once in their last ten matches, with five wins and four draws.

The rossonlù managed to break the deadlock in the first half, with Jens Odgaard finding the net after a setup from Calabria. Verona faced a setback when Valentini received a second yellow card, leading to his dismissal.

Bologna extended their lead to 2-0 thanks to Cambiaghi, capitalizing on a mistake by goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò. However, Verona responded quickly, narrowing the deficit in the 80th minute with a goal from the recently substituted Mosquera. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to prevent their fourth loss in five matches.

After suffering an away loss in Turin, Verona is eager to build on their recent home victory against Fiorentina from two weeks ago. The Gialloblù currently sit four points above the relegation zone, having recorded two wins and three losses in their last five matches.

Bologna gained the upper hand in the 40th minute when Jens Odgaard found the net with a precise left-footed shot into the bottom left corner. Davide Calabria provided the assist, showcasing his skill as he maneuvered across the field to set up Odgaard, who confidently slotted the ball past goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò into the far post!

🟥   Hellas Verona has been reduced to 10 players since the 70th minute when Nicolás Valentini received a red card for accumulating two yellow cards. The match score is Verona 0 – 1 Bologna.

Bologna extended their advantage in the 78th minute when Nicolò Cambiaghi found the net with a left-footed strike into the bottom right corner. The goal was set up by Benjamín Domínguez, who delivered a pass to Cambiaghi in the box. Although the shot from the former Empoli player wasn’t too threatening, Montipò mishandled it, allowing the ball to slip through his fingers and into the goal! The score now stands at Verona 0 – 2 Bologna.

Hellas Verona made it a tighter match in the 80th minute. Daniel Mosquera scored from close range, sending the ball into the bottom right corner and outsmarting goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski. The current score is Verona 1 – 2 Bologna.
