Iachini named as new Fiorentina coach

ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce that Giuseppe Iachini has been appointed as the new head coach of the first team.

Iachini was born in Ascoli Piceno on 7 May 1964. During his playing career, he made 127 appearances for Fiorentina between 1989 and 1994. He has previously coached Sampdoria, Palermo, Sassuolo and Udinese, among others.

“I would like to thank Vincenzo Montella for the commitment and professionalism he showed during his time at the club,” Rocco Commisso said. “Unfortunately, our current league position forced us to make a change. We chose Iachini because he is a great person and has strong ties with Florence and Fiorentina. Now we all need to work together to get back on track as quickly as possible.”

Iachini will be unveiled to the media on 28 December.

He will hold his first training session with the team at the Davide Astori Training Centre on 29 December.
