Commisso full of praise after Samp victory

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso lauded the work being done at the club after the Viola’s win against Sampdoria, with praise for the players, coach, management and fans.

“First of all, I want to congratulate the team for the three points and all the fans for standing by us throughout these five games, supporting us in the good and the bad moments. They’re phenomenal. Sensational. I love them. We’re all really happy with our fans.

“As for the criticism of the team, we mustn’t forget that we’ve been a bit unlucky too, especially in the games against Napoli and Atalanta.

“Prade has done an excellent job with Barone and you can see that on the pitch.  It’s no coincidence that Ribery, a player they got for us, and Chiesa, who I was determined to keep right from the outset, were key to our victory tonight.

“I’m delighted with the work all the staff are doing – Prade, Barone, Antognoni and all the others. From now on we can only get better. I ask everyone to stand by the team. We have a long road ahead but we’re improving.

“In a short period, Montella has done a great job with a totally revamped group as we are the first team in Europe with the highest number of new players.

“I thought I was going to have a heart attack tonight. I want to go back to Florence to see the games live. It’s harder watching them on TV than it is when you’re at the Franchi.”
