“THE RIGHT SPIRIT”

MILAN – Another three points and another clean sheet for Clarence Seedorf’s Milan team. Here’s what players and management had to say after the match:ADIL RAMI“I went four months without playing and that was a tough period for me. I’ve worked hard to be ready and I have a strong character. Credit as well to my teammates who always gave me confidence and the coach too. It’s very important for a player. My dream is to stay here and do all I can for the team. I think it’s a dream for any player to be here. The priority for me is to defend at the back rather than score. Of course, I’m also big and strong which helps to get the ball in the back of the net as well. I want and I have to continue to do well for this club. I want to give 100%”.ANDREA POLI"It was an emotional return for me as I started here with the Primavera side and it’s something that I’ll keep with me forever. It’ll be impossible to forget how the fans welcomed me here. We played a big game with the right attitude, determined, focused, we wanted the result and we have to continue with what we’re doing. We have to keep showing determination and being decisive. We have some tough games coming up and we saw today how important it is to play for each other. It’s a big week ahead of us, we’ll be against the team that have won the title for the last two years, but we’ll go into the match with our heads held high”.MARCO AMELIA“With the chance that Eder had, I had to try and cover as much space as possible in front of goal. I put my body in front of him and luckily I did it. There were still a few minutes left and if Samp scored then, we would have had to suffer a bit. Many people judged me for the mistake against Cagliari but the important thing is that we won there and here today as well. I think I made my contribution to the team here today and we’re growing a  lot. We did well and we played well. Against Eder, I did a defender’s tackle. I think he was looking for the penalty but I got the ball off him and then if he doesn’t jump over me, of course he’ll fall”.IGNAZIO ABATE“We played our game, we started well and we played like we can but today shouldn’t be an exception, we have to find continuity to these results. We played a big game today. Samp have a strong attack and they tried to play an open game but we did well to respond the way we did. We shouldn’t set ourselves limits, we’ve been through some tough times and they’re not necessarily behind us now, so let’s just keep our heads down and work hard. We have to show that we’re improving and there are many factors ahead of the Champions League match. We have to perform like we know how and then we’ll see”.CLARENCE SEEDORF (PRESS CONFERENCE)“It’s always good to come back here and it’s bad to see that things didn’t go well for them but they went well for us and that’s football. Credit to Sinisa for the work that he’s doing here. We know that we have to continue to grow but we did well here today and it’s a good result which will allow us to work with more serenity. Muntari is growing, he’s a player that always gives everything on the pitch, he’s very attached to this team but he’s very emotional and often he gets angry with himself. I’m trying to make him understand that he has to show that to the others and that way, the referee will also understand that he’s not angry at others on the pitch. He’s a positive person. I won’t comment on the referee’s decisions. Samp are doing well, they’re a team that play good football and with the courage that they’re showing they’ll do well. They’re a young team and the players are growing. It was a good game and that’s thanks to both of the teams that were on the pitch. It’s important to do things together and that comes with time and with work. I’m happy with the result and the performance but the other teams are doing well too and so we have to keep working. I can only talk about and judge what we’ve seen, the positive thing is that there has been growth, we got a positive result and that will give us strength to stay on the road that we’re on. Credit to the entire squad as we read the game well in attack and defense. The team is starting to think together but we need time to continue this growth. When we do things together, we don’t leave any gaps. Honda does well on the right and he has a lot of quality. He caused them problems, he’s a quality player who can play all over the pitch. There are no problems regarding his position”.
