MILAN – Giampaolo Pazzini’s goal on Sunday against Cagliari has an interesting resemblance to his last Serie A goal which was scored 9 months ago.
Nine months ago, on the 28th of April 2013, Pazzini started the match on the bench. Catania were the visitors to the San Siro and it was a must-win match. With the Sicilians 2-1 ahead at half-time, Pazzini came off the bench to score 2 crucial goals to secure a comeback.
It was a similar story on Sunday with Pazzini starting on the bench. Mario Balotelli equalised, but it took Pazzini’s decisive goal to secure the win and complete the comeback.
Pazzini has been sorely missed this season by Milan, but he’s now back. This Saturday, the rossoneri take on Torino: last season he scored against Torino and hit the bar in the match in Turin. Luckily for Pazzini, there’s a whole week to train and maybe even improve on last season’s performance.
