In a thrilling encounter, Udinese secured a victory in the Serie A Week 23 clash against Venezia on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy. With this win, Udinese now sits at 29 points, while Venezia remains in a tough spot with 16 points, still in the relegation zone.
After a scoreless first half, the second half erupted with action. Lorenzo Lucca kicked things off in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a moment of distraction from goalkeeper Jesse Joronen to score. Just five minutes later, Sandi Lovric added another goal, bringing the score to 2-0. Venezia fought back, and in the 64th minute, Nicolussi Caviglia struck a stunning free kick from 25 meters, narrowing the gap.
The equalizer came in the 78th minute when Gytkjaer seized the opportunity to convert Candé’s assist. But the drama didn’t stop there; in the 84th minute, Iker Bravo received a pass from Solet and skillfully found the back of the net, leaving Joronen with no chance. The intense second half concluded in the 95th minute. Kosta Runjaic and Di Francesco’s squad will be gearing up for their next matches, facing Napoli away and then hosting Roma at home.
The action…
Udinese scored first in the 47th minute when Lorenzo Lucca found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the top right corner, beating Venezia’s goalkeeper Jesse Joronen. The goal was set up by Hassane Kamara, who delivered a cross from the left wing. Joronen’s attempt to intervene was less than perfect, allowing Lucca to capitalize on the opportunity and secure the lead for Udinese at the start of the second half.

✅ Stats before the game.
Udinese has the chance to become just the third team that Venezia has managed to defeat in both Serie A encounters this season since the end of World War II, following Bologna in 2021/22 and Cagliari in 1998/99. At home, Udinese remains unbeaten in their last five matches against Venezia in Serie A, having won the last three (with two draws). The only teams against whom Udinese has played more home games without a loss are Como (10), Piacenza (eight), and Novara (six).
Currently, Venezia is the team against which Udinese has the longest active streak of home victories, standing at three. However, Udinese has struggled recently, failing to win any of their last five league matches (with three draws and two losses). This marks their worst run since Kosta Runjaic took over, matching a previous stretch of five winless games from last October to December.
The last time the Bianconeri went longer without a win under the same coach was between November and December 2023, when they went six matches without a victory with Gabriele Cioffi in charge.
