This is what Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle had to say following the FIGC disciplinary panel’s decision to reduce Borja Valero’s ban by a single game on appeal this afternoon:

“It’s a defeat for football. This was an opportunity to take a step towards establishing a constructive dialogue and yet it was passed up, despite the fact that the images are very clear. I’m sorry for Borja more than anything. He didn’t deserve a sentence like this.”
