Lazio losing the UEFA Europa League Playoffs away game defeated by FC Porto on Thursday 17 at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal.   Lazio took the lead and ended up losing the game with the brace by Toni Martínez.  The Second Leg will be played at the Olimpico Stadium on Thursday 24 February.  The qualification is still possible for Lazio.

Lazio opened the score in the 23rd minute. It is Mattia Zaccagni to defeat FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Luis Alberto following a corner conceded by Chancel Mbemba.

FC Porto equalizing for the 1-1 in the 37th minute. Toni Martínez defeated Lazio goalkeeper Strakosha with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by João Mário.

Porto and Lazio met only once in European competition, in the UEFA Cup semi-finals in the 2002-03 season, when the Portuguese qualified for the final under the guidance of José Mourinho, then beating Celtic 3-2.  Porto have remained unbeaten in four of their last five matches against Italian sides in European competitions (3W, 1N), having lost all three previous ones. Lazio have lost four of their five away games against Portuguese sides in major European competitions (1W – excluding qualifiers). This series also includes the 1-4 defeat against Porto in April 2003. Porto have lost each of their last two home games in the Europa League knockout stage – to Borussia Dortmund in 2015-16 and to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2019-20.
