Vincenzo Montella met with the media this morning ahead of Fiorentina’s league match against Udinese tomorrow. This is what the coach had to say:

LEAGUE AND CUP FINAL
“Our first aim is to make sure all our players recover mentally and physically in time for the Coppa Italia final. Before then though we have to get points on the board to consolidate our position in the table. And of course winning is always good for morale.”

UDINESE
“This is the fourth round against Udinese this year: they have a good mix of youngsters and more experienced heads and they possess the right qualities to cause problems for us. It will be an extremely difficult game.”

LINE-UP
“It’s a particular moment for us and I want to look at things in our last training session. The formation only matters up to a point. We started out with a sort of 3-5-2 but depending on the characteristics of who’s playing I change things around a bit.”

ROSSI
“I don’t know when we’ll see him on the pitch again but I don’t think it’s just around the corner. I’m glad to see he’s ahead of schedule but you have to weigh up lots of factors.”

PIZARRO
“I’m not going to talk about his future or contracts. As things stand, if he’s fit I play him, otherwise I don’t.”

DI NATALE MISSING
“Di Natale will miss the game but in Muriel they have another great player ready to step in.”

FIORENTINA GOALLESS
“We need to improve but it should also be said that we didn’t concede either in our last game. Sometimes it comes down to the small details. Perhaps we are creating fewer chances than we were but not all that much less than usual.”
