Italian Soccer Serie A Blog congratulates AC Spezia for their first-ever Serie A promotion on Thursday 20 August 2020.   It is a historical day despite Spezia losing to Frosinone 0-1 in the Second Leg of the Serie B Playoff Final ending with an aggregate 1-1.   Spezia join Benevento  and Crotone as the three teams promoted from the Serie B to the Serie A.

Here is the situation. Spezia was promoted based on the tiebreaker rule of having finished higher in the table in the regular season. Spezia finished in the third position and Frosinone in the eighth.

Spezia was founded in 1906 and is based in La Spezia.
