Hello my friends. Here are the results of the Serie A Week 33 – Thirty-third Round on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April 2016.  We have only 5 more games to end the Serie A on 15 May with 15 points available. Mathematically speaking, the Scudetto is still open for Juventus and Napoli.  However, Juventus with 79 points having a wide advantage of +9 points above Napoli remaining with 70 points.

It’s almost “a done deal” for Juventus seeing their chances to collect the 5th consecutive Scudetto closer.  Juventus destroying Palermo with a mega goleada at the Juventus Stadium with a 4 – 0.   Palermo in total despair seeing their future a living nightmare falling even to the 19th position and relegation to Serie B …. close….  Terrible re-debut for Palermo coach Davide Ballardini.  The sour news for Juventus is that midfielder Claudio Marchisio suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during the game and had to be substituted in the 16th minute by midfielder Mario Lemina.   Marchisio’s season is over and most likely will miss being part of the Italian National team in the upcoming Euro 2016.

Napoli wasted a golden moment after losing the match against Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  It’s a fact that forward Gonzalo Higuain is a key player for Napoli and without him (still suspended) the victory period disappearing.  It’s good news for Inter because they are now in the 4th position.   Fiorentina remaining in the 5th position with 59 points after defeating Sassuolo at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.   Inter gaining mometum and chances  to grab the 3rd position not impossible.   Inter with 61 points are now only -4 points below Roma with 65 points.

Highlight in this round is to see Italian icon forward Francesco Totti embraced by the fans at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia Stadium.  Few Roma fans at the Stadium though applauding the legendary Captain.   Totti starting as a substitute replaced midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the 78th minute.   Few minutes later, Totti equalizing the score in the 85th minute for the final 3-3.

AC Milan coach Cristian Brocchi making his debut with a victory at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.   Brocchi replacing former coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.   Milan battling to gain points to avoid falling below the 6th position and dream with a post in Europe next year… at least in Europa League.  Game ending with protests and Sampdoria fans whistling……   Sampdoria 0 –  1 AC Milan, the goal by Colombian forward Carlos Bacca.

As for relegation the good news is for Carpi!   Yep, Carpi, mathematically speaking, is saved to remain in Serie A next season after defeating Genoa with a 4-1 result!   Carpi were promoted from Serie B this season and the dream continues for another season.  Way to go for Carpi.  Bad news is for Hellas Verona with “a reserved ticket” to be relegated to Serie B remaining in the 20th position.   Verona losing the home game at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium defeated by Frosinone also battling for salvation.

The top scorer up to Round 33: Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain with 30 goals
