Hello my friends.   We started the new 2016 – 2017 season!!!!  Here is the Roundup for the Serie A Week 1 – First Round on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August 2016.   The race just started for the Scudetto.

Saturday’s games seeing the two big winning.  Yep, the first match to kick off  the season was AS Roma vs Udinese.    AS Roma trashing Udinese with a smacking goleada 4-0 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.   Argentinian midfielder Diego Perotti scoring 2 goals by converting 2 penalties and completing the party were the goals by Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah.  Perotti surely not disappointing coach Luciano Spalletti after giving him the chance to play when substituting forward Stephan El Shaarawy in the 56th minute. Roma grabbing their first 3 points.

Juventus also with an important victory.   It was a tough duel with the first half ending 0-0.  The turnover came in the second half with Juventus opening the score and then Fiorentina equalizing.   The ideal scenario for the debut of the new Juventus player forward Gonzalo Higuaín when he started as a sub and then BAM!   Higuain breaking the draw to score the winner goal in the 75th minute.

AC Milan starting the season with the goal by Colombian forward Carlos Bacca in the 38th minute against Torino…… A dreamed start for Bacca scoring 3 goals including converting one penalty! Surely, a great debut also for the new AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella defeating the ex Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Main flop is Inter defeated in the away game against Chievo Verona at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium. A personal derby for Valter Birsa who is an ex AC Milan player and scored the 2 goals against Inter to give Chievo the victory.

The 3 teams promoted to Serie A this season are Crotone, Cagliari, and Pescara after a 3 years absence. Crotone promoted in Serie A for the first time in their history. Cagliari promoted after just one year of being relegated to Serie B.  A test for all three teams and we might say only Pescara passe the test.  Crotone  defeated by Bologna and Cagliari defeated by Genoa.   A different story is Pescara who started with a strong determination  surprising Napoli with 2 goals.  Yet, Napoli reacting and managed to even the score for a final 2-2.   Simply put, Pescara with coach Massimo Oddo might be a tough cookie for the s0-called big teams usually doing bad with the so-called small teams.
