Napoli with a struggling season failed to win the Serie A Week 34 game against Roma on Sunday 28 April 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli, Italy.  Napoli could not defend the Scudetto because Inter already crowned themselves last week. The last two days saw the team coached by Calzona draw internally with Frosinone and lose in Empoli. A victory today, however, could bring some enthusiasm, to then try to close the season in the best possible way.

It all happened in the second half: the goal that opens the ball comes in the 59th, with Paulo Dybala scoring a penalty earned by Azmoun. Five minutes later the equalizer arrived, with Olivera shooting from outside, finding a clear deflection from Kristensen, which wrong-footed Svilar and ended up in the net. In the 84th minute a penalty arrives for Napoli, after the VAR review for a contact between Renato Sanches and Kvaratskhelia: the penalty is scored by Osimhen, who wrong-foots the Giallorossi goalkeeper. When the match seems to be headed towards an Italian victory, Abraham’s goal arrives: Dybala’s corner towards the center where Ndicka heads the ball for the English attacker, who beats Meret with his head, bringing the match back to a draw.

Napoli equalized in the 64th minute.

✅  Stats before the game. Bologna remained unbeaten in seven of the last eight Serie A matches against Udinese (W2, D5), however losing the most recent one, in the first leg of this championship (0-3 on 30 December 2023). The Friulians can win both seasonal matches against the Emilians in the competition for the first time since 2017/18. This is only the second match in the entire history of Serie A in which Bologna and Udinese face each other with a gap of more than 20 points in the standings (considered two points per game before 1994/95): the only precedent dates back to 18 April 1962 (+28 on that occasion for the rossoblù), with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. Bologna are unbeaten in five home games against Udinese in Serie A (2W, 3D), after having lost four of the previous six (1W, 1N); more generally, the rossoblù have scored at least one goal in 12 of the last 13 home games in the competition against the bianconeri (the only exception was 1 February 2014, a 2-0 away success for the Friulians). Udinese have drawn 10 of their last 16 away matches against Emilia-Romagna opponents in Serie A (3W, 3L), although in the most recent three there has only been a draw (1W, 1L): 1-1 in the 1st April at MAPEI against Sassuolo. Bologna have lost only one of their last 13 Serie A matches (9W, 3D), last March 9th against Inter – from the 21st matchday onwards, in fact, only the Nerazzurri (35) have collected more points than the Rossoblù (30 ) in the championship.
