Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Genoa, 18th position with 10 points and a negative goal difference of -9
AC Milan, 2nd position with 32 points and a positive goal difference of +12

Genoa needed to win the Serie A Week 15 game against AC Milan to dream with salvation on Wednesday 1 December 2021 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genova, Italy. Yet, it is AC Milan to grab this away victory reaching 35 points to keep up the race for the Scudetto being -1 point below Napoli with 36 points after their draw with Sassuolo and +1 point above Inter with 34 points.  Genoa Coach Andriy Shevchenko faced his ex-team as coach for the first time with this flop.

Franck Kessié making his 200th appearance with the AC Milan shirt in all competitions: his only goal against Genoa in Serie A came right at the Ferraris stadium, on a penalty kick in October 2019.

AC Milan opening the score in the 10th minute. Forward Zlatan Ibrahimović defeating Genoa goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu with a right footed free kick shot to the bottom right corner. Special goal because Ibrahimović, at 40-years old, has equaled Silvio Piola as the top scorer in the Serie A history counting only the goals scored after turning 38 years old (31 goals).

Stats before the game.  AC Milan have won six of their last nine Serie A matches against Genoa (2D, 1L), after losing four of the previous five (1W).  Milan have remained unbeaten in their last four away games against Genoa in Serie A (3W, 1D) and have not recorded an unbeaten streak of at least five away games against Grifone in the tournament since the one between 1989 and 2007 (seven – 1W , 6D).   Milan have conceded 16 goals in the last nine league matches (a clean sheet), they had only collected two in the previous nine Serie A games (seven clean sheets).  Genoa have not found the goal since the arrival of Andriy Shevchenko: the Ukrainian could become the fourth manager in the 21st century without goals for his team in all the first three Serie A benches (after Somma in 2005, Longo in 2018 and Grosso in 2019).  Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on 152 goals in Serie A, just one length from 26th place in the competition’s top scorer ranking currently held by Stefano Nyers and Hernán Crespo – he could also join Filippo Inzaghi (73) as 10th top scorer in Serie A with the Milan shirt (the Swede is 72 in the Rossoneri).

👉 Lineup GENOA (3-5-2): Sirigu; Vanheusden, Masiello, Vásquez; Ghighlione, Sturaro, Badelj, Rovella, Cambiaso; Bianchi, Ekuban.

👉 Lineup AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Kjær, Tomori, Hernández; Tonali, Kessie; Messias, Díaz, Krunić; Ibrahimović.
