 This is a wake up call for Cagliari to start earning points.  Sassuolo failing to win the Serie A Week 13 against Cagliari on Sunday 21 November 2021 at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy.  Sassuolo having an advantage playing at home and with a better position having a +8 points lead over Cagliari.  Coach Walter Mazzarri gaining at least 1 point after  losing his last four league games at the helm of Cagliari: it is the fourth time he has recorded such a long streak of consecutive defeats in the competition and never in his Serie A career has he reached five in a row.

Sassuolo could lose three consecutive Serie A games for the second time this season: in the entire 2020/21 championship the neroverdi had never recorded three consecutive defeats.  Cagliari have lost eight of their first 12 Serie A games for the fourth time, after 1975/76, 1990/91 and 2017/18 – yet in the last two of those occasions they managed to save themselves from relegation.  Cagliari do not find the goal from three Serie A away games: the Sardinians have not recorded a longer streak without a goal away from home in the competition since March 2019, under Rolando Maran (five on that occasion).
