Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:

Genoa, 18th position with 6 points and a negative goal difference of -7

Spezia failing to win the Serie A Week 10 game against Genoa ending with a draw on Tuesday 26 October 2021 at the Alberto Picco Stadium in Spezia, Italy.  The victory was a must for Spezia and Genoa battling to be away from the relegation zone.  Genoa has lost only one of the nine matches between Serie A, Serie B and Coppa Italia against Spezia: 1-2 for the eagles in the cadeteria in November 2006 – they complete six rossoblù successes and two draws.

Stats before the game. Between Serie A, Serie B and the Italian Cup, Spezia and Genoa have met four times at the Eagles’ home: three wins by the Grifone and a 2-2 draw in the Italian Cup in August 2013. Spezia last season lost both matches played in Serie A against Genoa; Lazio and Juventus are the other two teams against which Spezia did not collect points in their first season in Serie A.  The Spezia of Thiago Motta has lost twice as many games (six) compared to the knockouts collected in the first nine days of last Serie A (three), with Vincenzo Italiano on the bench. After the comeback victory over Salernitana on Matchday 8, Spezia could win two consecutive Serie A home matches for only the second time in the competition (after the matches against Cagliari and Crotone between March and April 2021). Six games in a row without winning for Genoa in the league (3N, 3P): with Ballardini on the bench he does not reach at least seven from the streak of eight collected between February and April 2013.  Thiago Motta made his Serie A debut with Genoa both as a player (October 2008) and as a coach (October 2019) – in this match against his former team, the Italian-Brazilian will register his 10th bench with Spezia, overcoming the races as a technician collected with the Griffin (nine).

Not a good move for Genoa conceding an own goal by goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu in the 61st minute giving the lead to Spezia.

Genoa equalizing for the 1-1 in the 86th minute. Domenico Criscito defeating Spezia goalkeeper Ivan Provedel converting a penalty with a left footed shot to the center. The penalty is conceded by Provedel after a foul on Felipe Caicedo.

👉 Lineup Spezia (4-2-3-1): Provedel; Ferrer, Hristov, Nikolau, Bastoni; Kovalenko, Maggiore; Strelec, Salcedo, Gyasi; Nzola.

👉 Lineup Genoa (4-3-3): Sirigu; Cambiaso, Vasquez, Masiello, Criscito; Behrami, Badelj, Rovella; Ekuban, Destro, Kallon
