Juventus start the season with the right note and a convincing performance. The first step was to win the Serie A Week 1 game against Udinese on Sunday 20 August 2023 at the Dacia Arena in Udine, Italy. It all happened in the first half with Federico Chiesa unlocking the opening match, Dušan Vlahović doubled the lead from a penalty and sealing the victory with Adrien Rabiot, in added time, put the bianconeri up 3-0. In the second half, Udinese changed tack with Samardzic’s entry and worried Szczesny with various shots from outside the area, without however being able to find the way to score.

The next round will see Udinese playing the away game against Salernitana, while Juventus will host Bologna.

Massimiliano Allegri (249 so far) could become the second Juventus coach to cross the milestone of 250 victories in all competitions since 1929/30, after Giovanni Trapattoni (319).

Problems for Udinese. Referee Antonio Rapuano gave a penalty to Juventus conceded by Festy Ebosele following a handball inside the penalty area. It is forward Dušan Vlahović to convert the penalty with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Udinese falling and before ending the first half, there it is another goal. In the 45+3′, Adrien Rabiot scored from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Andrea Cambiaso.

👉  Stats before the game: Juventus have remained unbeaten in 14 of the last 15 matches against Udinese in Serie A (W12, D2), the only Friulian success in the period came on 23 July 2020 (2-1 comeback at the Dacia Arena with goals from Ilija Nestorovski and Seko Fofana, after Matthijs de Ligt’s goal).  The last time Udinese and Juventus met on matchday one dates back to 22 August 2021: that match ended 2-2 and was Cristiano Ronaldo’s last game for Juventus. In total, it will be the fifth time that the two teams challenge each other in their league debut: so far two victories for Juventus, a success in Friuli and a draw.  Udinese have lost two of their last three Serie A season debuts (D1), as many defeats as in the previous six Serie A seasons.  Juventus is the team that has won the most Serie A opening matches of the season: 59 victories for the black and whites, including six of the most recent seven.  Udinese earned 19 points from behind in Serie A last season, only Bologna (20) did better.  Juventus kept clean sheets in 20 matches in the last championship, fewer only than Lazio (21): the last time that the bianconeri had collected at least as many clean sheets in a Serie A season was in 2017/18 (22 in that case, always with Allegri on the bench).

👉 Lineup UDINESE (3-5-2): Silvestri; Perez, Bijol, Kabasele; Festy, Zarraga, Walace, Lovric, Kamara; Thauvin, Beto.

👉 Lineup JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Weah, Miretti, Locatelli, Rabiot, Cambiaso; Vlahovic, Chiesa.
