Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A ROUNDUP for
the
Serie A Week 34, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 19
April
2014, matchday 34.   Countdown my friends!  4 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on May 18!   Happy Easter to all of you.

The top 3 positions will not change this week despite the results. One thing is certain, Juventus’ victory  practically gives the thumbs up to start the Scudetto party……  Juventus keeping the first position after defeating Bologna in the 64th minute with the goal by midfielder Paul Pogba.  Juventus reaching 90 points having a +8 advantage over Roma defeating Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

We won’t see a change either in the 4th position.  Fiorentina keeping the 4th position despite losing the match against Roma with the goal by midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Genoa – Cagliari.  Genoa opening the score in the 3rd minute with defender Sebastian De Maio. Yet, Cagliari equalizing in the 37th minute with midfielder Marco Sau. The final laugh is for Cagliari causing an upset the Ferraris by defeating Genoa with the goal by forward Victor Ibarbo in the 82nd minute.

Udinese – Napoli.  It is Napoli to open the score in the 39th minute with midfielder Jose Maria Callejon.  Napoli ending with frustration as Udinese equalize the score in the 54th minute with forward Bruno Fernandes.

Chievo Verona – Sassuolo.  The battle for salvation.  An upset for Chievo seeing Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi opening the score in the 40th minute.  This is the 14th goal for Berardi.  Celebration by coach Eusebio Di Francesco believing in the salvation to remain in Serie A.  Sassuolo jumping one position from the 19th to the 17th position reaching 28 points after defeating Chievo.  Yep.  Finally, Sassuolo are out of the relegation zone!  Chievo still not saved with 30 points because they are only 2 points ahead of Bologna holding the 18th position with 28 points

AC Milan – Livorno.  The final sprint towards a spot in Europa League.  AC Milan opening the score in the 43rd minute with forward Mario Balotelli.  A blow for Livorno sinking in relegation after the second goal by midfielder Adel Taarabt in the 51st minute.  The treble arriving in the 83rd minute with the goal by forward Giampaolo Pazzini.  The defeat sends Livorno from the 18th to the 19th position.  A painful defeat for Livorno and the Club taking the decision to sack coach Domenico Di Carlo after the game.  New coach Davide Nicola, returning again.  Nicola coached Livorno from 2012 to January 2014 when he was sacked.

Parma – Inter.  Mamma mia!  A blow for the ex Inter forward Antonio Cassano failing big time to put Parma ahead.  Yep.  Cassano failing to convert a penalty in the 44th minute. The penalty conceded by Inter defender Walter Samuel after a foul on Parma midfielder Marco Parolo.  Parma playing with 10 players since the 46th minute after Referee Rochi gives a second yellow card to defender Gabriel Palleta.  Inter taking the lead in the 47th minute with Rolando

A moment of glory for Catania winning their 5th game this season and seeing a ray of hope for salvation.  Catania defeating Sampdoria with the goals by Sebastian Leto in the 45th minute and forward Gonzalo Bergessio in the 63rd minute.  Nevertheless, despite the result, Catania remain in the 20th position with 23 points.  Mathematically speaking, Catania can still save themselves. There are 12 more points to win.  A combination of seeing Catania winning 2 games depending on how well Livorno and Sassuolo do, might save them.
