Empoli with a much needed victory and got it right.  Empoli with firm determination defeating Palermo with a flat 3 -0.   A match between the two promoted teams from Serie B.  This victory helped Empoli to escape from the relegation zone jumping from the 17th to the 12th position!    It’s also the first win for Empoli this season and what a best way to do it than in front of their fans.   Palermo  continuing their crisis unable to win a single game this season while remaining in the 19th position crying for help.

Empoli opening the score in the very 4th minute!  An early goal to state their intention for survival and grab the full 3 points.  It is forward Massimo Maccarone giving the lead to Empoli after defeating from close range Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino with a left footed shot in the bottom right corner.  The assist by defender Mario Rui Duarte.   A joy for Maccarone scoring his first goal this season.

Second goal of the match following a corner conceded by Palermo defender Sinisa Andjelkovic.  There it is is the assist by Empoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori to the center finding defender Lorenzo Tonelli ready for the headed shot in the high center.

Palermo succumbing without hope… In the 63rd minute, Empoli seeing another moment of joy for the fans to rejoice at the Carlo Castellani stadium…. the third goal of the match by forward Manuel Pucciarelli defeating Palermo goalkeeper Sorrentino with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.  The assist again by Valdifiori!   It’s the 3rd goal of the season for Pucciarelli.
