Mision accomplished for AC Milan winning the Italian Serie A Week 17 game against Torino on Saturday 9 January at San Siro Stadium.  The victory secures AC Milan the first position reaching 40 points while Torino falling down in the relegation zone in the 18th position with 12 points. Surely, good news for AC Milan archiving their first defeat last week against Juventus ending their 27-game unbeaten record to get back to the winning path.

Benevento suffering a home defeat crushed by Atalanta with a 1-4.    Atalanta gaining momentum to climb towards the top 5 positions.  Atalanta’s hero is Josip Ilicic to be a decisive player increasing their unbeaten league run to seven games reaching 31 points.  Benevento losing precious points and now the task is to return to win to be among the top 10 teams remaining with 21 points.

Genoa with an important home victory defeating Bologna at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.  It is a boost for the morale of the team with Coach Davide Ballardini.   The victory sees Genoa with 14 points out of the relegation zone in the 17th position.   Bologna in the 12th position with 17 points.

What a slap for Inter.   The big duel with AS Roma ended with a 2-2 draw.  Inter slowing down wasting the chance to keep the -1 point below AC Milan with 40 points in the 1st position.  The draw sees Inter reaching 37 points being now -3 points below!   However, the draw helped Roma with that added punch because with that shared one point they reached 34 points and climbed to the 3rd position.  Roma will play the Derby della Capitale against Lazio next week.

A thriller match was Udinese vs Napoli.  The last minutes intense with Napoli claiming the victory in the 90th minute.  You bet, this away victory is a boost for Napoli grabbing golden 3 points keeping up the race to be among the top 6 teams to be within the European zone.

Parma suffering a home defeat at the Ennio Tardini Stadium defeated by Lazio.  It is a valuable away victory for Lazio claiming the 3 points for the added punch ahead of next week Derby della Capitale on Friday 15 at the Olimpico. Lazio reaching 28 points while Parma remaining with 12 points down in the relegation zone in the 19th position.

Hellas Verona defeating Crotone at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium with a 2-1.  The cry for help is loud for Crotone in the last position with only 9 points winning just 2 games this season.  It seems the promotion from the Serie B to Serie A is not working for Crotone.

Fiorentina gaining momentum after defeating Cagliari at the Artemio Franchi Stadium with a 1-0 thanks to the goal by Dusan Vlahovic in the 72nd minute.

Juventus crushing Sassuolo with a 3-1 at the Allianz Stadium.  Sassuolo playing with 10 players since the 45th minute when Pedro Obiang was sent off.  Juventus sealing the victory with forward Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the third goal of the match in the 92nd minute to score his 15th goal this season.  Juventus reaching 33 points being now only -7 points below AC Milan.   Sassuolo went down from the 5th to the 7th position.

The round ending on Monday with the victory of Spezia defeating Sampdoria with a 2-1.  It is a special victory for Spezia because it is the first victory at the home stadium at the Alberto Picco Stadium.  Spezia climbed from the 15th to the 14th position reaching 17 points and being away from the relegation zone.
