Sassuolo 1-1 Milan: Rabiot nets as Gabbia picks up injury

Milan were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw on the road against Sassuolo in Serie A, after Adrien Rabiot’s fierce strike was equalized by Cas Odenthal. The match was marred by a worrying injury to Matteo Gabbia, who was carried off on a stretcher in tears during his first start of the season.

The Rossoneri had successfully shifted to a four-man defense in their 3-0 win over Lecce before the international break but were missing Alexis Saelemaekers, who needed ankle surgery. Luka Modric was given a rest from the starting eleven, while Diego Moreira and Christian Pulisic operated behind Goncalo Ramos. Sassuolo, for their part, entered the game after a 3-2 victory over Juventus followed by a loss to Monza, with multiple players sidelined due to injury.

Sassuolo 1-1 Milan as Gabbia sustains a serious injury

Gabbia’s first start of the season was abruptly ended when he stretched to challenge as Armand Laurienté sprinted away. The defender seemed to hyperextend his leg and suffered a severe strain to his left thigh, leaving him unable to stand. He was taken off on a stretcher in tears and replaced by Koni De Winter.

The delays continued soon after play restarted, as Fedde Leysen limped off with a badly sprained knee. Cas Odenthal came on in his place, later playing a key role in Sassuolo’s equalizer.

Milan produced the first real chances as the half wore on. Rabiot headed a free kick from Moreira over the bar before Moreira tested goalkeeper Arijanet Muric from close range. Ramos then had his header from a Samuel Chukwueze cross tipped over, while Muric also denied Moreira after the attacker turned between two defenders and saved a Strahinja Pavlovic header at the back post.

Adrien Rabiot puts Milan ahead against Sassuolo

Modric came on at half-time, replacing the booked Estupinan and allowing Moreira to shift to full-back. Sassuolo hit back with chances of their own, as Vasilije Adzic linked with Domenico Berardi before forcing a save from Mike Maignan. Josh Doig also volleyed a Berardi cross over the bar.

Milan finally broke the deadlock when Rabiot ran beyond the offside trap to meet Modric’s through ball. He blasted fiercely into the roof of the net at the near top corner, surprising Muric, though the goalkeeper seemed to have a chance of stopping the shot from that angle.

Sassuolo threatened an immediate reply, with Maignan making a difficult save to deny Kieron Bowie before smothering Kristian Thorstvedt’s follow-up flick. The hosts kept pushing forward and found their equalizer from a corner delivered by Laurienté. After the ball was flicked on, Odenthal poked it into the net from seven yards through a crowd of players.

Sassuolo pushes for a winner as Milan settles for a draw

The equalizer opened up the contest, with both teams looking for a late winner. Muric rushed out to prevent Chukwueze from reaching a through ball by Pulisic, while substitute Alphadjo Cisse forced another save with a curling effort that was pushed away.

Sassuolo thought they had scored again in the 88th minute when Thorstvedt fired in a loose ball from close range. However, the goal was ruled out because the referee had already blown for a push by Bowie on Ramos.

The hosts had the final opportunity of the match, but Maignan collected Thorstvedt’s strike from beneath the crossbar. Milan therefore left with a point after Rabiot’s opener was cancelled out by Odenthal, while Gabbia’s injury remained the most troubling moment of the evening.

2026-27 Serie A Week 6 Live Result and Scores.

Serie A is gearing up for an exciting Round 6, which kicks off on Saturday, October 10 and wraps up on Monday, October 12, 2026. After wrapping up a lengthy 16-day international break that covered both the September and October FIFA windows, the league is back in action. The title race has tightened considerably, with the number of frontrunners shrinking from three teams down to just two. Inter Milan and Lazio are now locked together at the summit, each boasting 16 points. Roma has slipped out of contention following a disappointing 0-0 stalemate against Como, which dropped them to 14 points.

AC Milan couldn’t capitalize on their chances and settled for a 1–1 tie during their away match at Sassuolo, keeping them at 12 points. Juventus had a similarly frustrating outing, finishing with a 1-1 stalemate against Cagliari and sitting at 11 points. To add insult to injury, both the Juventus and Cagliari managers were ejected from the game following heated disputes.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, things look grim for the struggling sides. Parma and Fiorentina both find themselves in the relegation zone with 4 points apiece, occupying 18th and 19th positions respectively. Venezia FC stands completely alone at the foot of the standings in 20th place, still searching for their first point of the season with zero on the board.

As of Week 6, the leading scorer is Roma’s forward Donyell Malen with 6 goals.

Inter crushed Parma with a 3-0 score at San Siro. The Nerazzurri solidified their position at the top of the standings with 16 points.  Parma stayed at 4 points.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great day for Parma. Alberto Gilardino’s tenure as manager of the yellow-and-blues got off to a rough start with a loss.   The reality is that Inter dominated Parma in the opening half! Petar Sučić scored in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a mistake by goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi. Then Hakan Çalhanoglu doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 18th minute. Marcus Thuram sealed the victory in the 31st minute.

SSC Napoli earned a convincing 3–0 victory over Frosinone  at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical adjustment to a 3-4-3 formation proved remarkably successful, highlighted by Kevin De Bruyne’s outstanding two-goal performance (29′ penalty, 90’+4) and Noa Lang’s clinical finish (32′). Napoli have reclaimed three points and are climbing back up the standings. At the Maradona, Lang and an exceptional De Bruyne with a brace—including a retaken penalty following Hojlund’s initial miss—secured the victory.

Genoa pulled off an impressive 2-1 victory over Fiorentina at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. This marked Genoa’s first three points as they managed their two-goal advantage and claimed the win. Genoa climbed the standings and matched Fiorentina (along with four other teams) on four points.  Genoa dominated the opening 15 minutes. Milutin Osmajić scored the opening goal after Mikael Ellertsson’s shot went wide, which turned into a perfect assist. Moments later, Osmajić switched to playmaker mode, delivering a cross into the penalty area for Junior Messias to finish cleanly, extending the lead to 2-0. Fiorentina slipped into third-from-bottom.

Sassuolo and AC Milan shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Mapei Stadium. Milan’s impressive unbeaten streak continues, with the Rossoneri remaining undefeated in the league this season (3 wins, 3 draws). The team climbs to 12 points and sits in 5th place, with a busy week ahead featuring a Europa League trip to Salzburg followed by a home match against Atalanta at San Siro.   Sassuolo reaches 8 points and holds 10th place with an even 2-2-2 record. Their hard-fought draw helps them stay away from the relegation zone.

Atalanta defeated 3-1 Venezia at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo. Atalanta came into the match having lost three straight Serie A games (against Roma, Cagliari, and Juventus) before snapping their losing streak. The win moves Atalanta up to 10th place in the Serie A standings with 9 points from 6 matches (3 wins, 3 losses). Venezia FC remained in 20th place (the bottom of the table) with zero points after losing all six of their opening league matches.

Torino grabbed a thrilling 2-1 victory over Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. The win brought Torino’s tally to 7 points, courtesy of 2 victories, 1 draw, and 3 defeats. Meanwhile, Udinese remained stuck at 4 points, extending their unfortunate streak to four consecutive losses. The match saw Bragança put Torino ahead early on, but Ekkelenkamp quickly leveled things up for Udinese. The turning point came in the second half when Sandro Kulenovic netted the winner for Torino, capitalizing on a mistake from Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye. In other news, David Alaba made his debut appearance for Udinese, coming off the bench as a substitute.

Napoli defeats Frosinone 3-0 with De Bruyne shining in new setup

Napoli secured a solid 3-0 win against Frosinone after adopting a 3-4-3 formation, as Kevin De Bruyne netted twice and Noa Lang scored from close range. The game also marked Scott McTominay‘s comeback after a month away due to heart arrhythmia surgery.

The Partenopei implemented multiple adjustments due to a long injury list, with Benoit Badiashile earning his first start. Antonio Vergara, Costantino Favasuli, Alisson Santos, Frank Anguissa, Mathias Olivera, and Alessandro Buongiorno were sidelined, while Alex Meret, David Neres, and Lorenzo Spinazzola had returned to fitness.

Frosinone came into the match three points ahead of Napoli following a 2-0 win over Como before the international break. Florian Grillitsch and Daniel Birligea were absent, but Antonio Raimondo shook off a minor issue to spearhead the visitors’ attack.

Napoli 3-0 Frosinone: De Bruyne drives new formation

Napoli started with intensity, as Rasmus Højlund hit the post in the third minute from Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s cross. Di Lorenzo then made a crucial defensive play to prevent Giorgi Kvernadze from connecting with Romano Schmid’s pass before the Georgian forced Meret into a save from a narrow angle.

The home side received a debatable penalty when Højlund fell under challenge from Giorgio Cittadini. Højlund took the first penalty, but goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani stopped it. A VAR review revealed that Palmisani had moved off his line early, so the penalty was retaken.

Following instructions from the bench, De Bruyne took the second attempt and scored to give Napoli the lead. Shortly after, Di Lorenzo received Højlund’s pass and attempted a shot, but Palmisani denied him. The ball stayed live, enabling Lang to tap into an empty net from close range for 2-0.

Lang threatened once more with a fierce shot toward the near post, making Palmisani save again, while Neres shot just wide after a run starting in his own half.

Scott McTominay returns as Napoli finishes 3-0 victory

Napoli kept generating opportunities after the break. Neres traded passes with Lang before hitting the post narrowly, but a key moment for the home fans was McTominay’s return to the field, greeted with a standing ovation.

Frosinone sought a reply via Kvernadze, whose threatening cross-shots rolled across the goalmouth without a teammate to finish. He later tested Meret directly from the edge of the box.

McTominay nearly scored too, challenging Palmisani at the near post. Substitute Lorenzo Lucca, however, faced jeers from parts of the crowd after a few errors. In added time, Alessio Zerbin crossed into the area, but Tomas Bobcek couldn’t connect for a close-range effort.

Napoli clinched the 3-0 win with the last kick of the game. Giovane surged down the left and cut the ball back from the byline, letting De Bruyne slot a first-time finish with the inside of his right foot into the bottom corner to seal his double.

Official: Turkey dismisses Montella following four Nations League defeats

The Turkish Football Federation has formally announced the dismissal of Vincenzo Montella from his position as head coach of the Turkish national team, following four consecutive losses at the start of his Nations League campaign.

Montella had been in charge of the Turkish national team since September 2023 and had secured qualification for both EURO 2024 and the 2026 World Cup. The European Championship run ended with a 2-1 defeat to Austria in the round of 16, while Turkey was eliminated from the World Cup at the conclusion of the group stage.

The four most recent matches played by Turkey after the World Cup also ended in defeat. Placed in the same Nations League group as Italy, Montella’s side lost twice to the Azzurri during the September and October international breaks.

Turkey was also beaten away 3-0 by Belgium and lost at home 1-0 to France in the Nations League matches played in recent weeks.

Absences are not enough to save Montella’s job

During the September-October international break, Montella had to do without three of his most important players: captain Hakan Calhanoglu, Juventus talent Kenan Yildiz, and young Real Madrid star Arda Güler.

The absences, however, were not enough to prevent his dismissal. The Turkish Football Federation confirmed the decision through a statement published on Friday afternoon on its official website.

“It has been decided that Mr. Vincenzo Montella will not continue in charge of our national team,” reads the brief note released by the TFF.
