Lazio failing to win the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, First Leg game against Bayern Munich on Tuesday 23 February 2021 at the Olimpico Stadium in Rome, Italy. A painful defeat for Lazio conceding three goals in the first half at the Olimpico for the first time in the Champions League.   It’s now an uphill battle for Lazio to overturn this result in the Second Leg.

Not a good start. It is Bayern Munich to open the score in the 9th minute with Robert Lewandowski defeating Lazio goalkeeper Pepe Reina with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner. Bad luck for Lazio because the goal resulted from a short back pass of Musacchio intercepted by Lewandowski then getting rid of Reina in exit to smack the goal!

Not again! Bayern Munich increasing the score for the 2-0 in the 24th minute.

Oh nooooo and another one???????

I am just fainting!!!!! This is not possible! Helloooooo Lazio conceding another goal and helloooooo an OWN GOAL by Francesco Acerbi in the 47th minute!

Phewwwww a sign of relief with Lazio reacting in the 49th minute. Joaquín Correa shortening the distance for the 1-4 defeating Bayern Munich goalkeeper with a right footed shot. That’s it forzaaa Laziooooo

  • It is the first official match between Lazio and Bayern Munich. Lazio have only lost 1 of their 6 Champions League games against German teams (2W, 3N) and have always remained unbeaten at home.  Bayern Munich are unbeaten in 5 Champions League away games against Italian teams (3W, 2N).
