Here are the declarations of AS ROMA Coach Rudi Garcia after winning the Serie A Week 16 game Genoa 0 – 1 AS Roma on Sunday 14 December 2014 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Garcia saying, “I’m pleased we took the opportunity to cut the gap with Juve to one point, especially after last week’s result.

“We should’ve taken one of our chances after the break to get the second goal and take some of the pressure off. If you don’t do that, you risk conceding from a dead-ball situation. They were getting some opportunities, although I must say that the last corner they got should never have been given.

“In any case, coming to play here is tough. All teams will find it hard against Genoa at the Marassi.

“Why did we start with no strikers today? I wanted to use the pace of our wide players to nip in behind and cause their defense some problems. The Genoa defense is very strong but perhaps it’s not the quickest.

“All my players are important and will get a chance. I pick the players who are in the best physical shape and those who fit the tactical plan on the day. Destro? We’ll need him. There are many games left to play so I’m sure he’ll be a great help to us.

“Nainggolan is one of the best in Serie A. He scored today and won the penalty. He was at the heart of everything.

“I’m happy with some aspects of our play and not with others. But when you play every three days, it’s only to be expected that you lack a bit of energy at times.”
