“I’m happy because it had been a while since I’d scored like that,” Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner

Stephan Lichtsteiner has spoken of his desire to win everything
possible this season with the Bianconeri, an aim he has helped on its
way by weighing in with another crucial contribution tonight in the 3-1
victory over Inter.

The Swiss opened the scoring at Juventus Stadium, making a run into the box from deep to head home his second of the season.

He has provided five assists, too, but tonight it was Andrea Pirlo
who did the honours for him, and the 30-year-old began his post-match
interview with a word of thanks for the midfield maestro: “I have to
thank Andrea, who laid it on a plate for me. With his assists,
everything becomes much easier.

“I’m happy because it had been a while since I’d scored like that.
In the heat of the moment, I didn’t think about whether to control or
strike it straight away, I just acted instinctively.

Lichtsteiner went on to offer a comment on how the eagerly-anticipated tactical battle panned out.

“Inter are in a bit of difficulty, but they’re always tough
opposition. We played at a high tempo, only dropping towards the end,
but with a 3-0 lead that was understandable.”

He concluded with a message for Juve’s rivals in Serie A and the
Europa League, an adventure soon to kick off against Trabzonspor in
Turin on 20 February.

“We want to go on to big things in Europe, too. Everyone views us
as favourites, but we know it won’t be easy. We’ll do our best, we’ve
got no intentions of letting up in any competition.”
