Champions League Quarterfinals First Leg: AS Monaco 0 – 1 Juventus
Tuesday 14 April 2015
Historical victory for Jvuentus finally returning to the Champions League Semifinal!!!!!!! Juventus qualifying to the Semifinal after 12 years! Allow me to give a standing ovation to each player! Grande Juve! Final aggregate result is AS Monaco 0 – 1 Juventus thanks to the win in Juventus Stadium. Forza Juventus. Prestigious fans including Prince Albert II of Monaco in the tribune, sadly, watching the 0-0 draw resulting in the elimination of Monaco.
Ouch, things a bit tense as Referee William Collum gives the first yellow card to Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini in the very first minute for a handball. Stats reporting this is the fastest yellow card in this season!
Monaco are pressing and chances in the 6th minute. Geoffrey Kondogbia challenging goalkeeper Gigi Buffon with a left footed shot.. close.. so close…. come on Juve!!!
In the 8th minute, Juventus forward Carlos Tevez with a headed shot challenging AS Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic who saves in the bottom right corner. Oh gosh!!!! The assist is by midfielder Andrea Pirlo. Come on Juve!!!!!
Juventus must react and move forward. There is Monaco in the 15th minute and risking an own goal when defender Andrea Barzagli deviates the ball almost making it a goal.. OUCH UFFAAAA
In the 26th minute, beautiful long pass by Andrea Pirlo towards defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, but goalkeeper Subasic anticipates to block the action!
Interesting Stats:
- AS Monaco losing the 2 European games agaisnt Juventus in Turin, Italy.
- AS Monaco losing only 1 game of the last 5 home games against Italian teams at the Stade Louis II.
