Sassuolo delivered a crushing defeat to Fiorentina on Saturday, December 6, 2025, winning the Serie A Week 14 match at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy. With this victory, Sassuolo rises to eighth place in the standings with a total of 20 points. They temporarily surpass Udinese and Lazio, positioning themselves just behind Juventus. In their upcoming match, Grosso's squad will take on AC Milan at the San Siro.

Fiorentina is undoubtedly experiencing their worst nightmare. They have now suffered their eighth league defeat and remain at the bottom of the table, tied with Verona, five points away from the safety zone.

This week, the Viola will compete in a Conference League match against Dynamo Kyiv, followed by a league match against Hellas Verona at the Franchi stadium.

The situation for Fiorentina is becoming increasingly critical. However, in the 65th minute, Sassuolo nets their third goal through Konè, assisted by Volpato. The Tuscans fail to respond, and the match concludes with a score of 3-1.

Sassuolo has remained unbeaten in 13 of their 22 Serie A encounters with Fiorentina (W7 D6 L9), having only achieved more unbeaten results against three teams in their top-flight history: 15 against Udinese and Sampdoria, and 14 against Cagliari (13 against Genoa and Torino).

Fiorentina gained the upper hand in the 9th minute.  Rolando Mandragora successfully converts the penalty with a left-footed shot, beating Sassuolo's goalkeeper Arijanet Muric in the bottom right corner. The penalty was awarded after Arijanet Muric committed a foul on Fabiano Parisi within the penalty area.

Sassuolo quickly responded and leveled the match in the 13th minute.  Cristian Volpato found the net with a left-footed strike from outside the penalty area, beating Fiorentina's goalkeeper David de Gea in the middle. He was assisted by Tarik Muharemovic.

Sassuolo makes a comeback and takes the lead in the 45+1 minute just before the first half concludes. Tarik Muharemovic found the net with a shot from very close range to the upper center of the goal. He was assisted by Armand Laurienté, who delivered a cross after a corner conceded by Simon Sohm.

What a challenging lesson for Fiorentina, who couldn't secure a win. Sassuolo clinched the victory in the 65th minute.  Ismaël Koné found the net with a right-footed shot from the right side of the box to the center of the goal, assisted by Cristian Volpato.

Fiorentina is one of three teams against which Sassuolo has netted over 30 goals in Serie A: 31, alongside AC Milan (33) and Genoa (36). Conversely, Fiorentina has scored 10 goals in their last four league games against the Neroverdi (2.5 per game), which is just one goal fewer than in their previous nine league matches against the Rossoneri (11, averaging 1.2 per game).

After suffering defeats in their first two home matches against Fiorentina in Serie A, Sassuolo has only lost two of their subsequent nine home matches against the Viola in the competition (W4 D3).
