Roma took the lead just minutes into the match with a play that developed during the winter transfer window, as Zaragoza set up Malen, who scored to put his team ahead. Towards the end of the first half, former Napoli player Spinazzola found the net from long range, thanks to a significant deflection that helped him equalize.

In the second half, Napoli showed more determination, but during their strongest phase, Wesley managed to evade Rrahmani, who fouled him in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick. Malen stepped up to take the penalty, scoring his second goal and marking his fifth for the Giallorossi. However, the Dutchman's brace was not sufficient for Gasperini's team, as they conceded another late equalizer from Alisson Santos, who was assisted by another January signing from Napoli, Giovane.

Roma takes the lead in the 7th minute.  Donyell Malen scores with a right-footed shot that beats Napoli's goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic in the upper center of the goal. The assist comes from Bryan Zaragoza. The play begins with a swift, vertical counterattack from Roma. Niccolò Pisilli set up Gianluca Mancini on the right, and the advancing defender rewarded Bryan Zaragoza's run, finding Malen in the center. The Dutchman sent in a low cross, firing first-time without error. This marks his fourth goal for the Giallorossi and his third since joining Serie A, breaking the deadlock.

Napoli levels the score in the 40th minute.  Leonardo Spinazzola finds the net with a right-footed shot to the upper center. The assist comes from Eljif Elmas, who passes to Spinazzola just outside the penalty area. The ball is deflected by Pisilli, taking an unstoppable path that beats Roma's goalkeeper Mile Svilar.
