It certainly appears that the Scudetto is turning into a one-sided competition. On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Inter triumphed over Genoa in Serie A Week 27 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. With this win, Inter accumulated 67 points, significantly ahead of second-placed AC Milan, who have 54 points (Milan is set to play against Cremonese on Sunday).

This marks Inter's eighth consecutive victory in the league. Federico Dimarco scored a fantastic goal in the 31st minute, followed by Hakan Çalhanoglu converting a penalty in the 70th minute. Genoa struggled to achieve a third straight positive result after their away draw with Cremonese (0-0) and their home win against Torino (3-0), leaving them without any points to distance themselves from the relegation zone. They missed a chance to capitalize on Lecce's loss to Como (3-1).

This win serves as a significant morale booster for Inter, who quickly recovered after being knocked out of the Champions League playoffs by the Norwegian team Bodo Glimt.

⚽️  Inter takes the lead in the 31st minute with a goal from Federico Dimarco for @Inter_en, who scores with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The assist comes from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who rewards Dimarco's off-the-ball run by delivering a left-footed volley from a tight angle: a low, unstoppable shot that leaves Genoa's goalkeeper Justin Bijlow with no chance as it finds the far post.

The Nerazzurri have not achieved a longer consecutive league win streak since January-March 2024, when they won 10 matches in a row.

Genoa has managed to keep clean sheets in their last two league games (against Cremonese and Torino) and could achieve three consecutive clean sheets in Serie A for the first time since December 2024, with the third match taking place at the Meazza against Milan.

Since Daniele De Rossi became the manager of Genoa, only Inter (38 goals), Como, and Juventus (both with 29 goals) have scored more than Genoa, who have netted 26 goals in 16 matches, tying with Milan.

Andrea Zingarelli and Filippo Bercigli, representing the Siena and Florence sections respectively, have been designated as assistant referees. Video assistance will be offered by VMO referee Lorenzo Maggioni from the Lecco section, along with the help of referee Marco Guida from the Torre Annunziata section.
