Inter got ahead in the 6th minute with a very early goal. Captain Lautaro Martínez found the net with a left-footed strike from the center of the box into the heart of the goal. The assist came from Ange-Yoan Bonny. Barella delivered a long ball from the outside to Bonny, who looked up from the left and set it up for Lautaro in the center, allowing the Argentine to shoot first-time past Cremonese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
