The penalty was awarded after Mathías Olivera fouled Ivan Smolčić in the penalty area.

He sprinted from the edge of the box towards the goal and successfully outmaneuvered Butez.

Napoli and Como are set to meet in the Coppa Italia for just the third time, following two encounters during the 1999/2000 group stage: a 1-1 draw at Napoli on August 18, 1999, and a 2-1 victory for the Campania team away on September 15, 1999.
