The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here! It's time for the Derby d'Italia, where Inter and Juventus are set to clash in a thrilling Serie A Week 9 match on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the iconic Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Inter has faced Juventus more than any other team in Serie A, suffering 87 defeats, which accounts for 13% of their total losses in the league. However, Juventus has only managed to secure two wins in their last six encounters with Inter, recording two draws and two losses.
Stats before the game
Inter have won two of their last four Serie A games (D1 L1) played against Juventus in Milan: as many wins as in their previous 11 league games (D4 L5).
Juventus are the only team unbeaten (W4 D4) after the first eight games in a Serie A season for the first time since 2019/20; on the other hand, Inter have won five of their last seven league games (D1 L1), after failing to win in four of their previous five (D3 L1).
Inter have lost only one of their last 19 home games (W14 L4) in Serie A: 1-2, on 22 September, against Milan; Juventus, on the other hand, have won two of their last three away games (D1 L1), after failing to win in their previous eight (D5 L3). Furthermore, the Bianconeri are the only team in the current big five European leagues not to have conceded an away goal.
Juventus have conceded just one goal in this league; only three teams have conceded a maximum of one goal after the first nine games in a single Serie A season: Inter and Cagliari in 1966/67 (one each) and Roma in 2013/14 (also one).
Inter (151) and Juventus (196) are the two teams that have produced the most sequences of open play of at least 10 passes in this Serie A; however, of these 347, only three have ended with a goal (two for the Bianconeri, both against Genoa, and one for the Nerazzurri, against Torino).
On the one hand, Inter is the team with the highest average age (between starters and substitutes) in this Serie A: 29 years and 255 days; on the other, Juventus is the team with the second lowest average age (24 years and 252 days, behind only Parma, 24 years and 77 days).
Simone Inzaghi has won two Serie A games as Inter coach against Juventus; only five coaches in the Nerazzurri's history have done better, none of them in the three-point-for-a-win era: Helenio Herrera (seven), Giovanni Trapattoni (four), Árpád Weisz (three), Aldo Olivieri (three) and Eugenio Bersellini (three). On the other side, only three Bianconeri coaches have found success in their first Derby d'Italia on the Juventus bench in the competition in the last 30 years: Ciro Ferrara, Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri.
Dusan Vlahovic (15) and Marcus Thuram (13) are the two players who have scored the most goals in Serie A in the calendar year 2024; however, the Meazza is the stadium in which the Juventus striker has played the most games (seven) without scoring in the competition, while the Inter player is the one who has scored the most goals (five) at home in the current tournament.
