France triumphed over Norway with a score of 4-1 in their final FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I match on Friday, June 26, 2026. Ousmane Dembélé delivered an outstanding performance, netting a first-half hat-trick to secure the victory. Both teams had already qualified for the knockout stages, prompting Norway to make significant changes to their lineup and rest their star striker, Erling Haaland.

Another highlight of the match was a remarkable save by AC Milan's goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, who stopped a penalty in the 50th minute, denying Strand Larsen's attempt. Maignan has now become only the second French goalkeeper to save a penalty in the FIFA World Cup since 1966 (excluding penalty shootouts), following in the footsteps of Joel Bats, who achieved this against Brazil in 1986.

In the 7th minute, Ousmane Dembélé scores. Mbappé finds a beautiful path for the PSG forward, who shoots with his right foot into the far corner, leaving Selvik with no chance. France takes a well-deserved lead.

⚽️ In the 20th minute, Ousmane Dembélé found the net. It was a mirror image of the first goal, as Kylian Mbappé outmaneuvered Ostigard and set up Dembélé, who struck with his left foot, leaving Selvik with no chance. ⚽️    In the 21st minute, Thelo Aasgaard scores. Just as the celebrations for Dembèlè's double begin, Norway quickly narrows the gap. Schjelderup finds Aasgaard, who skillfully maneuvers and then strikes low into the bottom corner, leaving Milan's goalkeeper Mike Maignan no chance with a powerful shot from 15 meters.

⚽️ In the 32nd minute, Ousmane Dembélé is having an incredible moment. He has now completed a hat-trick, and the crowd erupts in cheers. Dembélé punishes Norway once again by curling another shot into the bottom-left corner. He is undoubtedly the hero for France today, leading them to victory. He becomes the first player to score a first-half men's World Cup hat trick since 1994.



 

In the 50th minute, Mike Maignan saves a penalty! While Strand Larsen's shot wasn't the best, credit goes to the Milan goalkeeper for reading the direction of the penalty correctly. Larsen's right-footed attempt was saved low to Maignan's left.  The penalty was awarded by Theo Hernandez.   Mike Maignan has now become only the second French goalkeeper to save a penalty in the FIFA World Cup since 1966 (excluding penalty shootouts), following in the footsteps of Joel Bats, who did so against Brazil in 1986.

⚽️ In the dying moments of the match, Désiré Doué heads the ball into the far post after a cross from Barcola. Selvik makes an attempt but fails to prevent the goal. Barcola, operating on the left side, skillfully checks back before delivering a beautiful pass for his PSG teammate, who expertly cushions his header into the top-right corner. That's it! Allez les Bleus!
